Default FINALLY BACK ON SALE: Weber L1-P8 Wasted Spark Drivers.

The IAW Wasted spark coildrive system is now fully ready for sale after a period of supply problems. We have actually purchased all rights to this product now so all supply problems have ended. We are now in the distinctly enviable position to be able to supply ourselves. lol

This system gets rid of the antique distributor and allows you to replace it with a far more modern twin coil wasted spark system. No more tiny gap and constant annoying missfires.

Key Points:
The driver runs various different dwell periods depending on engine RPM. It also has a circuit built in that drives the rev counter correctly. (Ford Counters require a small mod to teh rear. Aftermarket are fine.)

The ecu requires no software alterations whatsoever for this conversion.

The conversion is available for all Marelli version from L1 to P8 including Ecus converted to Pectel Super 8.

The distributor cap, rotor arm, Coil HT lead and Standard Coil are removed from the car totally leaving you with a solid state non moving HT system with less HT connections and only 1 gap.. the spark plug gap.

Here are a few tasters of what the items look like and to show you inside a converted ecu which should explain why we have decided not to let the driver itself be "DIY" installed.

CoilPack Driver: £150 installed.

The driver installed into ecu:

Coilpack: £58.

2nd ignition amplifier £30. Twin amplifier bracket: £40

Coilpack looms, plug and play: £65

Coilpack Ford HT leads: £95

Notes:
The price shown on the coilpack driver is a fully installed price. Installation into a Super 8 configured Ecu is £20 extra due to extra hardware to be removed and refitted. There is NO DIY option available for any type of ecu, sorry.

Insured 24Hr Postage of the ecu back to you is an extra £10inc vat. Extra items ordered will incur extra postage costs of course.

Everyone who wants one, please e-mail me on: sales@remapping.co.uk as they will be going out on a first come first served basis after ive cleared my current list of awaiting people.

Stu, just for clarification, does the Twin Ignition Amp bracket for £40 include the ignition amps, or just the bracket

Looks very cool Stu How easy is the loom to plug in as i'm useless with wiring it says 'Plug n Play' but does that mean plug n play in reality?

Does the length of the loom restrict on where you put the coilpack?

And also how much are new ignition amplifers?

Smit.

smit the wiring can be done in less than a minute, requires ony a screw drivers and to follow a couple of simple instructions

its very very very easy.

plugging 2 wires into the ECU hairbrush (only go in 1 way, and are also numbered) so can't really go wrong.

HTH

Cheers

Theres no need to remove the distributor, you can just leave it where it is if you want pal.

Quite a lot of scope on mounting the coilpack, the loom is designed to allow fitment in various areas, as are the HT leads length. New amps are £35.

The leads are longer for obvious reasons, and the ends are very different, as you can see here:

the spark plug ends - why are these different? Any particular reason? They look a little like Fez turbo leads. I assumed the fez ones were like this for neatness/to fit in the holder/support. Are they better inulatred against arcing etc?

i know this might sound daft STU but will this setup give any increase in MPG on lets say a L8 Closed Loop SETUP?

And is it a twin spark setup?
does it spark on the exhaust stroke?

Hi,
Yes, it will give a marginal increase on some systems that are forced to run very small plug gaps due to cylinder pressures, say, sub 0.6mm. Yes, the system fires on teh exhaust stroke of its opposing cylinder.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the coilpack system is THE way forward.

The quality of the product is amazing - the wasted spark boards that sit inside the ECU are built to an amazingly high standard and installation in the ECU is the exact superb standard as ALL MSD products

BUY THEM NOW - you will NOT be dissapointed

Also, I personally reccomend a set of Denso Irridium IK31 sparkplugs to compliment the wasted spark setup - an EXCELLENT combination, that has been proven to work in the most enduring situations (thats if you class 40 hard laps of the 'ring on the same set of plugs, a couple of track days, and 10000 road miles an enduring situation
