Default Mintex Brake Pads - Any good???

My Focus has just been into Ford for it's service and i'm told the front brake pads are 75% worn. They quoted me £90 for a set, so I told them where to go and said i'd sort it myself. Checked on Ebay for a set and keep seeing a brand called Mintex. The pads are well priced at £25ish inc delivery. Ferodo pads are £33 at halfords. I don't really need to uprate the brakes for Greenstuff's etc, as it's only a TDCi Sport which I use for work.

Are Mintex pads ok, or are there others for similar money you would recommend?

It sounds like you're just talking about their normal compound rather than fast road/track pads.

Mintex is a reputable brand.

Have always been a fan of their 1144/1155 compounds.

So these would be fine for the focus diesel then?? The reason I asked was because I hadn't heard of Mintex, and there was no way I was gonna pay Ford £90 for a set

A mate of mine swears by them!

I have also heard that the C-Tech pads are good!

Ive only used the 1144 and 1155 personally

1144 are pretty good pads for a road car
1155 work superbly on fast road or for trackday but are a bit squealy for a normal road car

Id happily trust any pad mintex make based on my experience of them so far but i would imagine the ones you are looking at there are utterly no better than any other budget brake pads like ferodo or halfords ones, but im sure they wont be any worse either as mintex is a good brand

ordered a set for £15 + £7 delivery. A damn site better than £90 that Fords wanted to charge me.

Get this, they also wanted to charge me £16 for a rear wiper blade as the old one had split. Stopped in at Halfords on the way back from getting the car and picked up a Bosch one for £6. What a rip off!!!!

Won't be taking the car back to Fords for it's annual service anymore. More work for Rob at SCC I think.
