Default ST170 Brakes on ERST (Goodridge hoses won't stop leaking)

Has anyone else had any problems when fitting ST170 front calipers??

I've used Escort RS Turbo Goodridge Hoses all round but can't get them to seal where the hose goes into the caliper.

Do i need to use ST170 brake hoses? Standard ERST hoses??
I don't know.

Matt.

The Goodridge hoses have copper washers on them, i think they are causing the problem.

Will try them tonight.

U sure you have the line round the right way?

Use the PUMA RACING lines they are perfect and cheeper then Goodridge.

Not 100% sure they are brailed hoses Mark fitted. Ditched the ABS at the same time as fitting it all.

Yeah i've ditched my ABShit as well.

I'm not sure i have them the right way round now.

The Metal pipe has a dished end so i fitted the end of the Goodridge hose that was most suitable to that. (hope that makes sence)

Going by the pic it looks like that you have the wrong end going to the caliper but i could be wrong cos its not very easy to see.

Try it the other way round, the thread should go most of the way into the caliper if not the whole way untill it stops.

Cheers Jano,

I'll have to inspect them tonight.

The hoses clamp right into the caliper and are only sealing on the copper washer that was on the hoses.

Thanks.

My mate has ST170 calipers with Goodridge braided hoses with no problems! If the hoses have been used previously then the copper washers should be replaced after every time they hoses are nipped up as they compress/squash to form the seal.

If they are brand new then I don't know

I'm with jano, i reckon Zvh is putting them in the wrong way round! the short end should go to the brake pipe!

Bugger that's my problem then. I have long end to metal brake pipe, as that is how standard ones are.

I think the hole in the ST170 calpiers is drilled a bit deeper and thats why i'm not getting a seal.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Matt.
