Default Baily D/V Repairable??

My Dump valve has started to stick open Which is a pain in the arse as you can imagine

Now ,it is the new type ,with the allen key bolts .
So, is it a spring or what ,that is foooked ,and if so is it easily done and bought???

piston type-just clean out the bore and it should be ok,the bore gets dirty and stops the piston from moving freely.

can you buy dump valve springs as mine has flew accross the garage floor somewhere!!!!

you sure the diaphram hasnt split?

thats quite common and will of course lead to it sound like its leaking.

the springs aint that hard in the m either so will be ok to open, just cover it so it dont blast accross the room

i had twin piston 1 ages ago and the second little spring had snapped got in touch with bailey who wanted ove Ł50 for this little spring so chucked the bloody thing in the bin

Considering you work for a Ford magazine, I would have thought it your duty to know that the Bailey dump valves are of the piston variety and don't have a diaphram .

Anyway, RH, if you run the dumpvalve on the hot side of the intercooler, it could be sticking due to the piston expanding with the heat it is seeing (especially if the dump valve is a few years old), as it is a known problem on the early ones that went to hot climates where ACTs were high. The material of the piston has recently been upgraded to prevent this .
