while we're on the subject, anyone made thermite? I have a few of the ingredients kicking around and was thinking of giving it a blast, only put off by the fact I might melt a limb off

The easiest one is the old busen burner or should i say flame thrower with a lighter and a can of deodrant, dont let that flame go into the bottle though

Me and a couple of mates have, recipe here

It takes an age to make decent iron oxide by grinding down rust to a fine powder and then heating it to oxidise it some more, aluminium powder came from a fibreglass supliers. It need to be lit with magnesium which you can get from a camping shop

a ceramic plant pot full of this would work a treat on top of a Gatso

It burns with a VERY bright flame.

I've got the magnesium ribbon and a big pot of Iron Oxoide, just need to find some aluminium filings, probably just file some of a block myself.

The Jolly Roger cookbook is awesome, I'm gonna try his smoke bomb recipe aswell

Ok i just tryed making the works bomb...i dont think my toilet cleaner was strong enough though the bottle was fucking hot though when i touched it! I'll have to get some stronger shit...anyone know what toilet cleaner is the strongest?

The aluminium powder we got was ultra fine, almost like dust and would be hard to make with just a file TBH The thermite was mixed 50/50 by volume and it worked really well, we did not try other mixes to see what the difference was but it is not quite as potent as the Jolly Rodger website claims, an air rifle pellet tin full of the 50/50 mix sitting on top of an old circular saw blade laid flat had it glowing white hot where the tin was sitting. It does not go bang, just burns like crazy.

maybe the ratio of ally to rust was wrong, jolly roger claims about 8 parts to 3 parts (cant remember whihc way round)

Also I heard alloy filings are supposed to be more volitile than powder, but I've no experience of it, I'll give both a go
