Default people with twin master cylynders - help needed

I have a problem with my twin master cylynder setup

using a 0.7 for the rear, and a 0.625 for the front.

had the car on axle stands earlier today to check that the drivetrain was perfect by running the car in gear, all is good there

but the problem is that the rear brakes are getting very very low pressure to them when hitting the brake pedal, almost nothing at all I might add

I've checked and double checked that everything is bled up properly, the rear calipers are NOT seized neither, and there are no fluid leaks from the brake pipe system. Also when bleeding the system up, there is a good flow of brake fluid from each bleed nipple on the calipers.

Can anyone shed any light asto what the problem may be, as with no brakes, the car aint going to get an MOT, let alone get to fordfair

you shouldnt have any major problems with that, maybe a bit of over brake if your rear calipers are big, have you fitted an inline presure reg ?

no inline pressure regs at all Mark

Thing is, it feels there is no braking power at all at the rears, and I need to sort this asap to get the frigging shitheap car thru an MOT

The calipers are the standard BMW E30 M3 calipers front and rear - similar size to standard cossie items on a 4x4 cossie.

Pedal feels solid, but not wooden, if that makes sence?

Not driven the car so not sure if the front brakes are working at all

I suppose I could always try and wind the brake bias adjuster towards the rear brakes and see how I get on?

you need to drive it, did you make your own box ???

sounds like you have a few ratio probs on the box, i would like to think the brakes are woking but with needing a lot of effort to make them work.

I made my own brake box, but retained the standard BMW linkage, I worked out the ratio, but cannot for the life of me remember what it is

Whats the best ratio to aim for? as I will try and adjust this tomorrow by modifying the pedal

Although from memory, before filling the fluid the cylinders were getting full travel.

Depends if you need the help

Ford Fair won't be far away

Remember there are several things you can adjust :

a) The balance bar
b) The rod length
c) The lump hammer

See how you get on first
