I know they make bellhousings for the T5 and type 9 box. Surely they could make one for the BC box. BUT, why not just stick a 2.0 16v zetec in it? Same result, less hassle

itd be easier to use a vuaxhall gearbox and get custom shafts made id have thought, cheaper too. you could get the 6spd vaux box with the LSD in there no bother!

then its just engine mount which wont be to hard if youre handy with fabrication.

This, is a very valid point.

And the RS2000 I4 weighs about 7 tonnes..... It's made from cast granite or something

But whacking an ATB in the 6 speed won't be that hard. Then you have a 6 speed XR2

Cheers for all the replys so far folks

Regarding the gearbox issue, i would prefer to keep the 4 speed box and fit an LSD into that if at all possible.

And the reason behind using the XE is

1: i can pick one up really cheap

2: Cheap, reliable power in near standard form

what are they as standard 150bhp?

a zetec with a few choice mods should see near that with alot less trouble fitting, probably cheaper buying in the first place and will still be quick enough, lets remember a mk1 xr2 only weight what, 900kg?
