Cheers for replys guys...

Well just had my 1st bill £140 for a GRP A head set,and bolts,AND lockin manifold nuts!!! Was proper chuffed with that, sooooo much cheeper for bits than cossies!!!!

Had a RIGHT fuckin game with the clutch cable though!!!

After abit of research.i found out that Renault recalled ALL 5 GTT`s,as the clutch rachets were FUCKED!!!!!!!!!! The rachet had broke on mine,so orderd a new 1 from renault. Was told you cant just buy a rachet, you have to buy a complete peddle asembly, thought thats got £70 written all over it,came in same day GENUINE £19.50!!!!

Then had the MARE of rippin the old 1 out (NOT EASY TRUST ME) If youve never done 1,NEVER offer to do one for ANYONE!!!!!!!

ANYWAY..... got it all on,but had LOADS of greif with the cable fittin in to the new rachet..so after a hour,i gave up!! Did a bit more research, and with the new supersedded rachet, had a new cable too,so after wreckin the new 1 to get the cavble to fit,had to order ANOTHER 1 and a GEN cable, but its all cool now,and still only cost me £34!!!!!!

FUCKIN LOVIN moddin Renaults!!! FUCK cossies!!! lolol

hopfully get the head gasket, and new ic on the week end, then go for a thrap!!!

Pete...

the self tuning bit is the best. Getting a tiny drill bit and drilling the main jet is the cheapest mod EVER i reckon. None of this mapping bollox.

Trust me, i tried it on my GTT too!

RapidCossie- Its not a bad idea! I used to re-torque my head bolts and regap the valve clearances every month, only 30min job to do it all, and keeps the car quiet and reliable.

Headbolts arnt stretch ones you see.

Is this the 5 that used to go up merry hill racing about? used to be owned by a lad called jamie I seem to remember, had about a million jubilee clips round the hoses to try and stop them splitting
I might be completely wrong of course... - But if it is the same car, I remember havign a real good tussle with it in my uno turbo

How much is a standard engine rebuild on these?

Theres one for sale near me (still with tax and mot) but a blown engine. Looks totally standard except for a set of 15's and the lad only wants £300 for it.

He hated the bonnet, but he wanted something to cool the engine a bit more, cos they do need it, lol. The engine heat kept making it sink. before he sold it he was going to get a standard bonnet with some of them louvres (SP) put in, but never got round to it

the tailgate didnt look too bad, better than with a grey strip at the bottom IMO. End of the day they arent the best looking cars to start with, 'shoebox' his GF used to say. she wouldnt go in it at all.

The twin dumpvalves seemed to have a slightly different sound to them than the single he had on before, but that might have been the mind playing tricks

Before the black one he had a Tungsten Grey one. He found it was rotten so decided to break it. before he did he took it for a spin. the person before him had fitted an In Car Boost Controller (a definate no,no, which i have just sold on ebay) and turned the boost up massively. it wheelspan up to 4th i think in the dry, he took it up my uncles lane, a bit scary with the torque steer, as there is a stream down a drop, lol.
