Hi guys
Just thought I would post a couple of choice pics from my recent trip to the Nurburgring!
As predicted by many that know me, the Cosworth just wasnt ready in time - the bodywork correction policy is going into overdrive - the more rust we fix, the more rust we find....
As such, I took the 'Day Car', which is my faithful BMW M5. The car did stunningly well, and posted a bridge to bridge time of 8:37 - not bad for a family saloon eh (not to mention one driven by a fool like me!)
Anyway, nuff words - a few photos....
1. The Car genuinely believed it was the real ring taxi!!!

2. Three of our party in a line after a day of 'ringing (honerable mention to those not photoed, including Rich and his 3 series, and Ian and his 7 series. I am the devlisihly handsome fellow next to the only proper car in the picture on the left!! LOL
![](https://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h135/jjcodex/100_0421.jpg)
3. On the track giving it plenty
![](https://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h135/jjcodex/101_6820.jpg)
4. A little hurried through the Hatzenbach complex (forgive spelling)
![](https://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h135/jjcodex/DSCN7238.jpg)
5. Through the Karrusell
![](https://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h135/jjcodex/101_6802.jpg)
6. The competition (we lost by the way - I KNOW - hard to believe!!!!)
![](https://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h135/jjcodex/101_6745.jpg)
7. Lotus elise about to be overtaken by a family saloon (hee hee)
![](https://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h135/jjcodex/DSCN7175.jpg)
8. Another 'my car on the track' picture
![](https://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h135/jjcodex/101_6806.jpg)
9. My good mate Ian trying to prove that the Seven series really can fly!!
![](https://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h135/jjcodex/DSCN7170.jpg)
All returned home safe and sound with no major error or problems!! It was a very good time, and I look forward to my second trip in October, hopefully back in the Cossie
10. For all those that extol the virtues of the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's - I give you this - new tyres + heavy car + hot track = utter shite!!!! Never again! From now on, back to Pirelli or Yoki for track work!! HAH! GSD3s are wet tyres and thats it!
![](https://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h135/jjcodex/101_6779.jpg)
11. If you look carefully, you will note that the skyline is not quite pointing the right way - very subtle, but closer inspection will reveal that the driver shit himself, and overteered to the inner edge of the corner, and then had to recover it. Fortunately, it is a skyline, so it recovered remarkably well!!! Nice one Andrew!

Cheers all

Thanks for the kind words suys
Simon, the car is absolutely fantastic - it is unbelievably rapid for such a big car, though my only slight critisism is that it doesnt always feel as quick as it is!!
Best of all - even with traction control off (as it always should be as it inteferes far too much) the car will flatter even flat foots like me!!
It was stunning at the ring. I never intended to take it - it was meant to be the cossie, but the cossie was so far from ready, it was either the M5 or nothing. Having done it though, it was absolutely excellent. It was a bit of a pilgrimage for the car really, and it performed like it was at home.
So in a word - I love it in a big way!!

We had a half eye on safety, and I didnt want someone hanging out of a car for a photo anywhere full tilt. Safety in mind and all that. You will note that the other photos were taken at a rather safer distance!!

The prob as far as we can tell is that the tread blocks are so thin that they just couldnt cope! To be fair the M5 is a big heavy bus. Upon return home, the tyres were inspected for serious damage, swapped around and are now consigned to a little bit of Motorway driving!!!
Day 1 - Manic as you like - everyone and their dog was there!!!! Completely crazy
Day 2 - Like our own private Nurburgring!!! Heaven
