You get rid of the FLAME TRAP (red and black plastic thing listed as number 2 on the drawing below).

But retain the kidney pot (1A).

is it the atmospheric port?
As I said, no-problem for a road car, a big NO-NO for a track car, and yes - is atmo port .

Well you shouldn't have told Stu that you would never do another one again . Because this is what he told me when I asked about the one you did for him . Anyway, Harvey is half way through one for mine (he didn't like doing it either) .

is this easy to do with the inlet manifold still on?

drilling the cam cover, at 12pm, so must decide by then

do most people just shove the pipe into the top of the flame trap?

Shove the pipe into the top of the old oil sep 1A (kidney) and forget about tapping the rocker cover!!

Works on a 480bhp engine, it'll work on us mere stage3 boys!

The top of the oil sep points horizontal rather than vertical thus enabling you to run the hose under the inlet instead of through it!

Much neater!

Mike could you not just lose the kidney and block off the original oil return and breathe from the block using one of these

If you want to do it without drilling the cam cover, Dave Hensell has detailed a solution on Franco's thread (see link below his signature). This requires both the flame trap AND kidney pot being removed though.

It also requires the fitting in Paul's post.....

have read that, i just have one concern. does the oil drain from the kidney pot, actually drain below oil level, cos if it doesnt i see no real advantage in this, (as opposed to draining from the blank under the turbo) as they both feed to crankcase pressure?

cheers for the help and quick responses on this guys. cover hasnt been drilled .................yet

Any way you do it without draining to the sump is going to suffer this way, so absolutely no point what-so-ever in drilling the cam cover....

Any way you do it without draining to the sump is going to suffer this way, so absolutely no point what-so-ever in drilling the cam cover....
so theres no advantage to using the kidney point drain, so for the sake of simplicity i wil drill the cam cover, breathe from this and the kidney pot, and drain to the return under the turbo.

done.

i say this as i can bothered to remove the inlet manifold, and the kidney pot, and also i have a mirror image breather and draing to the point under the kidney pot would be a pain in the arse

cheers guys

drill is spinning
