every one says i done mine for £5 or £10 or summet like that the fact of the matter was the shot blasting and preparation was £30 so powder coating was only £20 really. plus i didnt want to just paint it. i could have had it shot blasted myself for nothing and then painted but im a beleiver of some one doing a good service for you. didnt think £50 was to bad as an exchange one from traders on here are £100 and they are painted not powder coated. the other thing was the guys who done it had that colour on stock and to order another colour is a cost of about £250 which is the minimum purchase from most suppliers. Most of us people who are self employed and working till often 10pm at night dont have the time to do this sort of thing aswell.

as Paul said, there's only 1 place for the breather,if you turn it over there's are port just off centre at the back that you just drill through. then either bond or ally weld a tube to attach your breather hose to
looks excellent by the way, and a bargain at £50

does that mean the hole will be coming through the top at where the cover is angled, is that not a ball ache. do people sometimes put the hole in other places as im sure ive seen them on the top where its machined.

I would not recommend breathing from the top of the cam cover, especially on a high revving car and definitely not without a windage tray (not unless you want the contents of the sump in the breather
).
The best way to do it is to breath from the flame trap and under the exhaust manifold (where the blanking plug is) and drain to the sump:
Bailey two port breather
![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/MikeR/9e6ee824.jpg)
Drain to sump (below oil level so it isn't pressurised
)

Breather point exhaust side

Breather point exhaust side - close up
![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/MikeR/4a5b77d2.jpg)
If you don't do it this way and use the above point as the drain, then the oil cannot return to the sump until the engine is switched off due to the crank case pressure
. As well as causing the afore-mentioned loss of oli at high revs
.
We do the powder-coating in the three different Cossie colours (but a Candy Apple finish
):
Candy apple green (before machining):

Candy apple blue:

![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/MikeR/fbc351cb.jpg)
![](https://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/MikeR/79417d6b.jpg)
Price is £110 + return delivery (£10) for doing yours (and this includes the machining work).

thanks for the info mike, so what would be the cost of that 2 port bailey set up. not to bothered about aero quip hoses, unless they are needed(does this way of doing it run close to the exhaust)

bought my mirror image tank yesterday and doing the breather in the next few weeks.
was thinking about fitting it like you said, but heard the 4x4 sump is a pain to remove, and then needs a fitting welded to it.
also my breather has 4 ports? is it still suitable, bailey mirror image one.

The breather in the pictures is £108 + delivery (comes polished as standard), the hoses to suit (identical to the above) are £135 delivered (not including the anodised hose clamps / ends or heat wrap).
Yes it is near the exhaust as you should be able to see from the photos
.
Bailey do their own fitting kit (£41), but I wouldn't use this set-up on anything other than a road car, as it breaths from flame trap and cam cover and then drains to the point that is heat-wrapped on my car. This is flawed for the reasons I have described above.
The Bailey breather in my picture has four outlets (two breathers (ports), one return and one drain).

still HIGHLY gypo Mike!!
but to be fair, if you can't afford proper aeroquip fittings then what can you do.
God forbid though for your dizzyless conv.. you must surely have a proper blank in place... not just the std dizzy...
now THAT would be REALLY gypstonian!

Ok so just to re-cap the four connections are:-
Port one breathes from the removed bung under the exhaust manifold to the top of the Bailey Breather
Port two breathes from the top of the kidney box under the inlet side to the top of the Bailey Breather
Drain returns oil to the sump
Then there is atmospheric port
I thought it was wise to remove the old kidney box breather? if this is the case how does the pipe connect to the block once its removed and whats the old oil return plugged with?
Looking at Francos pipes you sent:-

This kit uses the kidney I take it?

PS Mike, i think i know why you've got a different shape kidney to the norm!!
So you don't have to run the breather pipe up in between the inlet trumpets!
Which leads me to my next question......................
WHAT THE HELL IS IT OFF AS I WANT ONE!
