Default what have i done to my car

was at croft yesterday, doing the second session when coming round the left hairpin at the start / finish straight i felt and heard a loud knocking noise, did a slow lap and came in

when driveng back to the service area at low speeds and in straight line there was deffinatley a knocking noise

set off home early so i could limp home, and the knocking noise went but as i got upto 60mph the car started to intermittantly vibrate as if a wheel was out of ballance, some times only small vibrations and other big ones

managed to get it home and driving at 30mph ish the car is ok its when you get the speeds up

any ideas people ???

gracie has helped me out on this AGAIN but cant see anything when we jacked the car up that stood out

help...............matt

p.s. thank you paul youre a star

I had the same noise and thought I had a wheel bearing gone, but then thought - I bet the wheel nuts had come loose (AGAIN ). I had to explain to the passenger that we would have to limp back for me to tighten my nuts . She did look at me a bit funny .

all nuts are tight

what could cause that vibration that wasnt just confined to the steering wheel

a sticky caliper could cause that as well. Had it on my saph, same as you, was ok at low speeds but used to rattle its tits off at higher speeds! one of the pistons on the caliper was fooked!

deffo check the osf driveshaft, that hairpin has killed loads of cv joints over the years as your at full power on nearly full lock.
I took it easily round there yesterday just in case, then hooned round the rest of the track.

btw,
I hope you wernt too upset to be overtaken by me in my red xr4x4 whilst on track in the mornin m8!!
lol

im very suprised anyone actually saw me on track pmsl

no m8 not at all, not to put your car down at all but i was trying to take it a bit easy as this was the first time these brakes were being used in anger lol plus the front drivers tyre was rubbing on the arch but yours was shifting lol

did look pretty cool when you went past me tho

dave. im sure we will meet next year for our little match, saying that tho the speeds you were doing theres no way i would of caught you

i said this year after it broke that was it now re coroft and track days but we will see for next year

im hoping its something relatively painless like a driveshaft thats gone wrong

gonna drive to gracies tommorow afternoon and see if he can find it

cheers everyone...........matt
