Default just got cought speeding but..

the copper didnt use a speed gun he had a timer thing in the car on the dash that timed me between lamp posts? and there was only one copper in the car

shurely him pressing the button between lamposts isnt enough to give me a speeding ticket?

he was on his own and didnt follow me speeding he did it from a slip road

just thought i would put a post up to see if anyone else has seen or had this before?

i forgot to sak him when it was last calibrated duh! probably would of been a good idea

he had no proof apart from him pressing this timer thing between lamposts and working out my speed from that

me bastard insurance will be cuntish next year as he reconed i was soing 83 down a 50 duel carage way but fucking cant remember doing that sort of speed

where is the video evidence?

if there isn't then you should be able to argue your case

but doing 83 in a 50 is a bit naughty

they time you from post to post
they time themselves from post to post to work out how fast it should take you to cover the distance within the speed limit
if you take longer then you are breaking the limit
but it needs to be backed up by video evidence

That's what they call VASCAR isn't it?

Shite system imo as you need human input.

Been timed on a it a couple of times (90 in a 40 once ) but always let off with a warning thankfully

Wouldn't hold out much hope tho - 'cause the magistrate would have to choose between your version of events and the coppers version.

I know who I would put the money on the magistrate believing.

If you fight it and get found guilty, you may get a higher fine/points/ban than if you offered decent mitigation.

Sorry to sound negative, but I was in the similar situation (105mph on the M1 caught by an unmarked car using vascar) and was strongly advised to go for mitigation. Got six points and a Ł300 fine, instead of a ban.

you should have just lied and kept to your storey

he gave you the yellow slip as it means he dont gotta go to court where

you signed for it and so admitted it too

i got knicked for doing 70 in a 30 at 3am when i picked my missus up from a club a few years ago, she needed the toilet so thats why i was caining it

i seen a set of headlamps in my mirror overtake a car so i slowed down just incase

anyway the copper was really cleaver the way he spoke to me adn really triedto intimidate me too and get me to admit i was speeding, even said about admiting it and just getting 3 points otherwise i gotta go to court and will prob get a ban

i just told my version of the truth and stuck to it and all i got was a producer

just never admit it, soon as tyou do your fooked

For VASCAR they have to have 3/10th's of a mile to be able to accurately calculate your speed. They can travel the distance and put it in VASCAR first then park up and wait for a speeding motorist to pass.

Alternatively they wait for you to pass a certain point, set the timer going then chase after you setting the distance as they themselves pass the 2 fixed points.

As I said, for accuracy it has to be 3/10th's of a mile and preferably over 13mph over the speed limit.

At the end of the day.

You were obviously speeding... and not just 55 in a 50.

Shut the Fcuk up, take the points and thank your lucky stars.

30mph over the limit is 9 times out of 10 a court apearance, a chunky fine an instant ban... and the rule of thumb is 7days for every 2mph over the 30 mph over the limit.

ie 101mph on the motorway... BAN

61mph in a 30 limit... BAN

You were more than 30mph over the limit.

Just pay the money

Most insurance companies now dont give a shit about an SP30 there are sooo many people who have them, one is not going to cause you a problem.

I can see why you feel aggrieved... lone copper.. etc etc.

But you were caught... end of.

If you were doing 34 in a 30 or 45 in a 40 then people would be more sympathetic and that is just bad luck.

But 83 in a 50...... you were speeding, take it like a man.

Im of the same opinion as neilm, but would still try to "help" myself...

Did you sign the ticket?

If you did you have admitted and your up shit creek, if not then fight fight fight.

I would try and get him done for dangerous drivin as i dont see how he can have been paying attention to his own driving and timing yours at the same time!

As a trainee street lighting engineer I can tell you the distance between 2 adjacent lamp posts will be approximately 30 metres Argue it mate

I would argue it. The speed would be determined by when he presses the button. If he pressed it late on the first post and early on the second then your calculated speed would be higher.

Surely miliseconds matter when timing over such a short distance to give a higher average speed.

But to be fair you must have been going some anyway to get "that" higher figure.
