Real time car tracking devices? Need some info :)
I'm looking to get a tracker fitted to my motor, i've spent a fair bit on it and would liek to invest that bit extra to secure it for my own peace of mind.
Who has one? Whats the dealwith them, is it an annual subscription? Is it a one off payment? Can i check my car's position through the internet etc?
Thanks

just finding my feet
theres a few systems about and it sort of goes like this
basic one is a triagular one that kind of says the position,,,,,,,, that oneyou have to report and then they look for it
theres a one called retrive that is gps based and again requires you call emand tell em
the best version is a system called "monitor", thats what my shed has and that IS the bollox as the call centre and made aware of anything with the car,,,,,,,, the cars moving with no key in the ignition the call you and ask ( like whn your on the back of a AA truck
IF there is a current drop like the batt being disconected or the most comon the batt going dead cause you never use the car like me then they also call you to inform you
i pay 99 quid a year subscription on mine and i payed FOOK ALL for mine as i upgraded mine when i was working at volvo as all the company cars are required to have a monitor system due to there insurance reasons and i just ordered a extra one
the track NEEDS to be intalled properly though otherwise its not gonna be any use
also take into account they DONT qork under bridges/near tall buildings or in underground car parks NO MATTER WAHT THe FUCKING SALESMAN CLAIMS
it also wont say when the cars being broken into either,,,, unless they relese the hand brake and let it roll
in a nut shell there "ok"
a BETTER security option IMO is dead locked central locking, steering lock, multilock gearbox lock, 2 SEPEATE IMOBILISERS aswell as a cat one alarm, get a revolver motorcycle lock for 1 wheel to be locked around the suspention leg and another chain from the towing eye of your car to another car andfit a pager to the cars alarm
do that in a underground carpark with 24 hour security and i find that compliments the tracker as a tiny extra, nobody has ever knicked my 1300 escort with those simple security mods
oh and it may have also helped that the engine is in the front room
