If enough parts are brand new with reciepts then it can have an age related plate so you could own a 56 reg cossie There are points awarded for certain parts, and I believe one major item such as the engine can be old. Martin-Reyland has done this I believe aswell as others on here with x reg and 02 reg cossies. Try a search

It will be a focus cossie, so engine and stuff is second hand obviously, the rest of the parts are second hand focus rs like wheels, hatch, bumpers.

Check Martin's build as I think about page 10 it says that you need to earn points and if other a certain number it is allowed an age related plate
There is also a link to a site which explains it all.

If you use the Cosworth parts in a new Focus shell I'd say you will get a Q (if these are still in use?)

The rules say the new shell should be of the same spec and a Focus and a Sapphire are obviously different, and the points scheme comes into play when you are building/rebuilding a car using parts from just one donor.

Using all new parts would be simple - you would get an 06/56 plate (depending when you reg it), but without a single donor you have no age to get a reg number related to.

Instead of a getting a new shell, it may be worth buying a write-off and rebuilding that with the Cosworth parts at the same time as the repair. In my opinion you will rarely get your money back on a modified car, so why worry about it being a write-off if you know the repair is done properly - and avoid the registration hassles.

OK your going to buy a new shell which is fine you will have an invoice to proove this, apsrt from the shell you will ned all the oter parts to fit the shell up I gass, varous rubbers, plastics, carpets, sterring components ECT ECT so you will be needing to buy a donor car probably one which has been damaged, you then re shell the car and use the ID,This is pefectly legal to do,you then have a proper reg number and no hassle with Q plating which will invlove a SVA test, which you dont really want to be doing

not quite,a kit car if retaining an age realeted plate requires 3 of the 5 major components to be eligable, your not changing the body type its a simple re shell job, just keep the invoice for the new shell incase you are asked to present the car for a DVLA inspection,a portfolio of the build/re shell is always helpfull
and by the way do not weld the donor chasis number into the floor, just stick it down as that again prooves you have not messed with the floor

pretty much what i said at the start then. it aint leagal as for a start it should really have a sva & also i dont think you are aloud to carry id from one car to another (i remember reading something in classic ford about it). but as i said before, weld the numbers in & do a good job & who's gonna know. on the its illegal side of things, he will have a cossy powered focus, im sure he'll be sticking to the legal 70mph speed limit
