Simon, if its anything like the version that I have for the mapping of my RP labs ECU then it comes with software pirating protection built into it.
You run a program on your PC to generate a unique id for it based on the processor etc, and then from this you get an encrpyted key that will only allow it to work on your PC.
TBH its still going to be very easy to crack in the grand scheme of things, im sure that like me in the past you used to feck around with cracking protected games and stuff when you were a kid and the same basic ideas (change an = into a != in the hex code for it) would no doubt work, but its still useless to people without the lead anyway, although obviously that too could end up copied if you really wanted to.
I would hope though that most people would be prepared to support the developers by paying the modest price for it though not start doing that sort of thing, as blatantly if cossie owners start ripping this off then you wont see any new products appearing for cossie owners in the future from RP labs IMHO
AWESOME product for people by the sounds of it Stu

Stu, SECS has recomended one, it might be worth you trying one of those if no one else comes up with an answer?
Failing that ForeigneRS i know used one but i dont know what make off hand.
Nikola is currently trying to help me sort mine out using the comm port i already have, so im crossing my fingers i wont need one at the moment, lol
He is a VERY helpful guy, real pleasure to deal with, his english frankly is better than yours, and he is absolutely instantaneous in his response
Cant wait to get using his ECU it truely is an awesome idea

Stu,
I don't really understand very much about tuning and mapping but from will this software allow me to plug my ecu into my computer via a lead and diagnose faulty sensors etc ?
Cheers

The only requirement for it to work, PC aside, is your ecu chip must output the correct datastream, so check with your supplier. If it doesnt, i can of course rectify that too at a cost.

Testing the future
great news on pricing Stu
i would also hope that as it is a bargain price to pay for the features that you get, no self respecting owner (and it doesn't have to be a cossie owner as there are many other vehicles using the L8 or P8 ecu's) should need to buy a ripped off copy (it is was possible).

Stu,
I've got a standard L8 board ( I think its a 92 K plate 4x4 Sapphire ). How do I know if it needs modifying for the software to work ?
Cheers

I saw this product in operation at our Berks meet courtesy of nick and it looks really impressive and very professional
Glad to see it's come out of the woodwork and is now available to all.
Stu, one thing I don't fully understand from your description is whether a pectel board is required or not

Stu, do you know if its the same lead as the one used on the mappable system?
If so do you sell the leads on their own, my is a bit of a homemade affair and i would much sooner buy a proper one!
