Default cosworth head removal

im taking the head off my saff to see what ive broken.
is there a particular order i should slacken the nuts off. its long studded by the way.

any helpfull tips would be great.

TBH it doesnt really make any difference when you are taking it off, but i always work from the outside in, just cause its the reverse of fitting it.

i'm pretty sure there meant to be slackened in a certain order.

When you tighten them it needs to be from the inside out so that you effectively smooth the head gasket outwards, rather than clamping it at the end and possibly having some slack in it.

When removing it, i can think of NO reason why it makes the slightest bit of difference what order you do it in, and i challenge anyone else to TBH.

cams yes, but head i just cant see it.

cheers Chip. im just removing all the other shit first so its gonna be an hour before i even get to the bolts but thanks for the advice.

some manuals qoute a removal order,usually because Ford workshops don't see the cars absolutely stone cold, so to avoid any problems the technicians followed a sequence..

but providing the engine is absolutely completely cold,then i don't see any problem in doing them as you please

If you look in the Burton Power catalogue page 38 it has it in there.

It shows to go from the outside into the middle and then from middle out to tighten.
