Default i dont understand

I have fited a newman cam with solid followers and double valve springs, changed my s2 fuel ecu for a s1 and the bloody car won't rev past 6500!!

I admit I haven't had it set up yet because I have only just done it and need to get the cam timed aswell! this is why I wouldn't try it in other than 2nd gear to see if t would rev but it wouldn't!

what's going on??

Incorrect cam timing?

Think what else have you disturbed whilst fiiting the cam?

it just feels as if all the power goes and sits there but I always let off before I get to see if it rises very slow as I don't wanna blow it up!

theres no limiter at the mo so not that!
it fels like a diesel limiter but loses power before!

If the cam timing is retarded then it'll peak before it should based on the correct timing figures.........

If you've not timed the cam properly then i'd suggest this is the best place to start.

I hope you have rewired the loom or the ecu?

If not, your bloody lucky you dint melt the engine as teh 2 fuel boxs arent interchangeable

Who gave you that brilliant advice?

Yes, but it's nothing to do with the ECU, so is irrelevant when used in a S2.

Best dig your wiring diagrams out then Rick. The boxes are wired differently.

Yes i know, as does he. The TPS, is negatively switched on the S1 box.

Must admit, thinking about it, it may work ok one way and not the other...

S1 will NOT work with S2 box without wiring or box mod, however, not 100% on the inverse situation... I will look at the diagram tomorrow if you dont actually know what i am talking about and know for a fact i am wrong.

If i AM wrong, teh keys you require are : & 0 & 0 & 7 & :

Why bother pissing around with the S1 ECU when you can just change a 50 pence microfarad in the S2 to rev it higher

I have rewired the tps and it works fine! I wanted the s1 ecu instead of changing a capacitor because then I have full control of where the limiter is with an aftermarket controller and will also be softcut!

now what the feck is going on

capacitor change just raises the allowed rev limit .. if you have an aftermarket unit how will that control how the revs are limited ????

the the s1 fuel ecu removes the limiter totally and I am going to get a omex electronic rev limiter and set it to say 7.4k and it will hit that as a soft cut!

all I need to do is get the bloody car to rev there!

EIL132

james, it's easier to mod the S1 ecu than the S2 really. Plus, the cap mod does not give exactly 7200 - it's analogue and varies from ECU.

The S1 way completely removes all limiters, allowing use of an Omex and accurate limit
