Default Fast Road/Odd TrackDay Saff

Right what is the best set up for a fast road saff?

Ie no pub bullshit like my stage three can have anything this side of the speed of light

I WANT proper facts not K1 bullshit.

Whats the best suspension setup for the above?

WTF is a touring car rear beam?

What is the best for a good modern handling fast Saff?

if you want to drive the car buy coil overs deck it with a set of compomotives or if you want a computer to drive for you (eg. control power to each wheel and take the fun and skill out of it.) then buy an evo.

stick with the blue oval and stay a driver mate

Genuine answer?

Zoo rear beam, set of Billy coilovers with the correct rate springs and dampers, adjustable TCAs. Good set of 17s, with proper tyres, then properly aligned and corner weighted.

However, for that little lot, expect to shell out circa 4k. Will make for an awesome track based road car, although the ride would probably be quite harsh on the road day to day.

Alternative? Sell saff, add 4k, buy a better car.

PON is right... ZOO beam. Bilstien / Leda / ohlins coilovers... Everything rose jointed. Adjustable bottom arms, adjustable top mounts, strut braces... Fully set up.. camber, castor, corner weighted... DO NOT make it too low...

And to get the benefit from this you would also need slicks and a set of 4 or 6 pot AP's...

Yup, main saff/cossie probs are shit rear suspension geometry and no way of adjusting it with the standard rear beam.

Fronts are a lil more adjustable, and easier to buy adj bits for.

Also big prob is the homo skinny tyres people run.

Decent diff will work wonders too.

TBH geometry wise its like any other car, the basics to work from would be...

Zero or slight toe in on the front and rear (they toe out at the rear when lowered so needs sorting majorly.
Bit of neg camber on the front, zero on the rear (soon as it squats you get neg on the rear anyhow due to the way Cossie susp works anyhow).

One you at that points you can do a trackday, see how it feels, and adjust accordingly...

Barring the rear beam it dont cost a lot, its just "suspension mods" in the Cossie world generally means "slam it on coilovers and fit poly bushes" with no idea or adjustment of geometry.

Ive been out in ecosniges ZOO beamed, adjustable TCA and set up, 909 coilover-ed Esc cos on 18" MOs. circa 350 bhp.

If I'm honest it really opened my eyes to what a cossie/ well set up road car is all about and capeable of..
very impressed!

more than quick enough to get caught doing something stupid in a straight line. and WAY more grip than i expected round corners.

i have done chassis design suspension n settings when i worked for Ferrari yrs ago
the pick up points are the best you will get out there for the money
its been proven time n time again
all big boys chose zoo beam to others out there at the time
i would explain why n how the beam does its job to the best it can with the dated trailing arm set up
the way forward is wrc multi wishbone double wishbone or tie n track bar set up i have all these diffent types on the 3door to play around with
also the front tca set up vastly needs improvement that's y am running mondeo touring car type front wishbones and full adjustable rack height cradle on front to stop bump steer and adverse angles of kpi steering axis displacement etc
i may not have the ability to cast new hubs n up-rites in alloy but my steel fabricated rear hubs to exactly what is needed to work around a corner
the way to go it cut the shell turret the rear and fit modern tech stuff

if you wana stick with beam then
zoo beam
tcas
compstrut kit
remote bladed roll bar
coil overs full set up
looking around £2000
