nah there were just over 8000 made, i do know the exact figure. there are of course a lot less on the roads today. they have either rusted away, broken for parts or just driven into the ground. People are restoring them though cos they are one of the best remembered fords ever made, and they just look bloody wicked.
They were 132 BHP as standard to.

Mattbibs, what price and spec you after, will most likely be selling mine on soon as can't justify running 2 cars.

I know when i looked round for one it took ages, the worst is the fact that they look great in the trader etc all white and shiney, then when you get there they have had a quick flash over and the door shuts and under the bonnet etc is rusty old shite

Went to see one that looked really tidy, got there and it was warm so had been running, about 8 blokes standing watching my every move and giving it the sales chat, looked clean from a distance until I opened the door to see rust and over spray, they said it had new interior which turned out to be S2 front seats. engine bay was filthy with things like the cam cover missing. claimed to be big bhp and had standard brakes alround and no visable engine mods

best was, he was asking Ł3500, I said it wasn't worth it and he imediately dropped to Ł2800, that's a big chunk off without arguement so walked away.

Eventually found mine down the road, had seen it around loads and really like it so grabbed it when it came up for sale

There was around the 7-8 thousand made, tho only jsut over 5000 made it to the UK. And std they were 133bhp S2 was 132bhp

Had somthing similar when I was hunting a FRST for my bro. We went to look at a so called minter up for Ł3000 and when we got ther eit had Venoms on it with cheap shite tyres, the rims were kurbed. The engine bay was a mess and the wiring had been butchered and it looked like it had been painted by a drunken chimp using a bicycle pump. I told him I thought the car was worth barely Ł700 as it stood as it needed a whole load doing. The guy got upset and said no way. 2 days later I got a call saying we could have it for Ł900 . We declined though as we'd found a lovely clean car not 3 miles from the advertised car at a garage

warleydaddy - i remember seeing the post when you first butchered that S1! but at least it helped keep a minter on the road!

not sure if its the one in the cars for sale section. was a very small garage in lincs selling it. to be fair it was a goodish car - but not for me at 5k! pity the bloke selling it was a tool!

im looking for 1 which is in very good nick - already modded as i dont think i can go through the same struggle the fiesta has been through! bog standard appearance (as they all should be ) relatively low mileage and around the 4k mark! i know its asking for a lot but im in no rush to find 1! i only face the usual problems young lads have in that i need to sell the fiesta to have enough cash to buy an S1! anyone with an S1 looking for a tidy fiesta would be ideal!!

ive wanted one for a while - but it prob was seeing yours at the last meet that made up my mind! obviously i still want a cossie but not in the next year or so!

as i said im in no rush - that potential buyer of my fiesta said the earliest he can afford is april so ideally i will be buying around then. so i'll have plenty of time to look around yours then. advice on what to look for would be a good help too!
