Default The ZT is nearly finished (Ha ha - Mr Fudge)

As you may know Dan (FF) is trying to build a zetec turbo 3dr and we have been trying to beat him to it. It has turned into a bit of a friendly grudge match.

We are getting close to finishing now so all i get from dan is "show me the f*cking pics"

I thought i would post them up here in case anyone else was intrested.

I just finished wiring in the MS Ecu this morning. Had to make an adapter to bolt on a different TPS as the 65mm (id) BMW535 TB we are using only had a throttle switch.

A couple of shots of the engine in the car.

and an arty farty one, looking through the TB in to the plenum chamber.

400+ we hope. The turbo is a GT30r so easily capable of it.

It has all the right internals and the head on it is a new focus RS casting nicely worked by CNC heads. It really is one of the best head jobs i have ever seen. CNC machining of heads is certainly the way forward. Every port identical and designed on a computer simulation for optimum flow.

Just up to the monkey who is mapping it to get the best from it

LOL @ Monkey mapper

Good luck, good feeling when its all your own work.

Cant beat tuning experience though as I found out....

I mapped my own car, then let a professional finish it.
Ended up with 54 bhp more and 3 psi less boost

Not all MY own work. I have done a fair bit of work on this car, but the cars owner has done most of the hard graft transforming the car from a 1.6 GLS.

Hopefully we will be going to Ford Fair in it and he can put a few decent times in up the strip.

That looks awesome

Whats with the 400bhp estimates though?

Surely with that sort of spec you are looking at 500+

True, but if i say 400 bhp the chances of being dissapointed are smaller

As its a zetec, its a bit of an unknown quantity.

Looks cool. Is it the later or earlier Zetec? Earlier one has bad rod/stroke angle doen't it? And small bored compared to YB.

Early zetec bottom end with late rods/pistons and a late solid lifter head.

Rod ratio is ok.

Yes, small bore (85mm) when compared to a YB. Engine is in fact under square. The small bore should help with a cetain amount of det resistance.

About 15kg lighter. Its also a fair bit shorter. You can see how much space there is in the front of the engine bay.
