Got a serious coz I came off a roundabout and absolutly floored it (Dual carriegway). Examiner said it was as though I was trying to race the Saxo behind me

What happened in reality is I left the roundabout on the inside lane and floored it (up to 70) when apparently I should have let the Saxo past (outside lane)

He was going alot faster than 70 anyway regardless of how fast I was goin, plus, surely, id probably get marked down for "not making progress" if I wasnt doing 70mph on an empty road?

it's a c*nt. . im on attempt #3 now only had 4 minors in total from 2 tests

Ahh, I preferred the old days when i passed. No written test bollocks, 4 minors, no majors and I still passed.

Driving in the old days was more fun (1995)

2nd test now booked, although if I can get a cancellation i'll take that

Ah well can't complain. I've only had 3 weeks to get upto test standard (my bday was 26th May )

Mayeb it was just because you 'floored it' irrespective of whether the other car was there or not? You didn't have to max out the throttle to reach 70mph.

From lesson 1 it was drummed into my head. Don't speed, but don't go too slow either. If it's a 70, drive at 70 (road & traffic conditions permitting), you could maybe get away with the width of the needle below or above the 70 mark.

So, a perfectly clear road and I shouldn't have been doing 70 and should not have caused the Saxo to speed? Surely if he couldnt get past he should have just pulled in behind me

Ah well, next time i'll drive at 40mph outside lane, just to be safe

Christian: 3rd gear in that Corsa needs to be floored to get upto 50, I then dropped it into 4th and floored it to get it to 70, then dropped into 5th and held it there. My instructor did say to accelerate briskly

The Saxo was mentioned in the debrief though so thats all I can think of as to why I failed...ive since binned the report though
