Default Mountain bikers

I know there's a few of you on here.

Where do you ride in the UK?

I'm currently looking for more places to go in the next few months with a few mates.

Mainly into technical downhilll stuff and good XC routes.
been to thetford forest,(suffolk) dalby & keldy forest(yorks) epping(london) and a few others but want more challenging routes

Currently riding danbury common about three times a week at the moment to get the skills built up.

Going to Coed-y-Brenin in september should be good.

pics here if interested

I raced XC for several years and amongst the private tracks there are some awesome forests. Have been to Coed-y-Brenin a couple of times and it is awesome. Spent a week there in 2000 and a few days again in 2002 (some very very technical and slippery stuff). We also did Snowdon and went up the pig farmers track which wasnt too bad although parts were unrideable due to the slippery stones.

Thetford is great for technical but not much else as it is so flat

Surrey Hills near Bracknell (just of M3), Yateley Heath near Yateley (on A30 nr Black Bush market). They are good and both available for public riding as far as I know. The Surrey Hills one is best started from the Lookout and you are supposed to buy a day permit for that one.

Windsor Great Park is supposed to be good also but havent been there.

Coed-y-brenin is an area that contains a number of trails for different skill levels. From memory there is one called that. They are good length trails also.

To add, Queen Elizabeth Country Park just outside of Petersfield, Hants is good as well. 3 Trails there which I used to go to preparing for races. Also a cycle up Butser Hill opposite if you are feeling energetic. Just be careful of your car in the carpark as with so many places these days.
