Default low comp engine?

Does anyone know if you can tell if a cossie 4x4saf has a low comp engine in it?
the one we just bought racey labours badly if you are in too high a gear, say if i took a medium sized roundabout in mine i can do it no probs in 3rd,just normal driving not fast.but if we do it in racey's it feels very laboured and takes age to build speed again!
and hers has a t3 at mo whereas mine is running a more laggy t34.

any help appreciated cheers.

The gear isn't really relevant, what are the rev's? Don't think it's a measure of if an engine is low comp' or not though. Could be quite a few variables, mapping being a big factor.

normally round the 2500 3000k mark.it goes ok when its up in revs but otherwise feels like you have to drop it down alot of the time. ive had mine as a standard car and at 330bhp and now 360ish and never once felt like raceys.hers is round 315bhp at mo.

Engine shouldn't be labouring at those rev's, imo. Is the chip/setup a known quantity?
