Do bus lanes have cameras???

Was late for the england game on sat, so decided to take a slight detour!!!

Im currently fighting 2 instances where I was caught contravening a bus lane by camera operators.

i got caught a few years ago, one bus lane and one normal lane, car was waiting to turn right in the normal lane so i went into the bus lane to go round him, 2 weeks later i got a fine for Ł80

 

yes they do,no flash either all digital...and on the buses.
i should know i drive the things...

no they run all the time and inside.
they even watch us driving....they can see the speedo and everything

one driver even takes his own digital camera to take pics of people in the lanes....VERY SAD!!

Why i personly HATE fcuking bus drivers (not all but 90% @ least) as when i was delivering in London in a lorry they just cut you up hit your mirrors ect , and they think because of the new rule they have right of way when ever SORRY NOT IN MY BOOK

imo the bus lane on church road has to be the worst in west london

But I dislike people who use buslanes when they aren't a bus more.

black cabs use them when they only supposed to when carrying passengers.

whats annoying for us is when people block the edge of the lane as though they want u to scrape down the side... bad lane disipline i think.

yes there is a lot of bad bus drivers out there, they box us in at bus stops etc

 

my only fault is i tend to run very early so i miss loads of passengers and make my job easier!!

i came through brixton the other sunday(empty as per usuall ) and a bloke ran out in front of me,i braked so hard there was six black lines with the back 4 going past the front ones!he was being chased by 3 big blokes and didnt even look.luckily the bus was empty otherwise i would of had 2 fill out a huge incident form. the brixton high street was full of michelin smoke

the bendy busses are the worst.. just made to block roads up and cover yellow boxes as some of the drivers think they can do what ever they want.. but although i dont drive a bus i still get to use bus lanes which im sure pisses off bus drivers

 

I get that all the the in the lorry m8 from Buses Cars Vans even other lorrys noraly 7.5 tons as there normaly driving them on a car licnce (sp)

Best is when i leave a GAP and the driver sayes i cant get though i look and say well your have to wait as i could get though it

 

I nearly hit one of them it was BRAND NEW i went to pull left as it shout up the inside of me and i had'nt seen one that had the bendy bit untill then

looks like they have been giving out free licences to some of the nobs driving them.. god knows how they pass their test.. im also pretty sure they have some deaf and blind ones now as they hardly ever get out of my way.. so i return the favour when i can by parking in front of them and leave them nice small gaps to get through..

Err, no they ain't You're not supposed to be in them, so if you do you get fined. Not like you HAD to go in the bus lane, which if that was the case and you then got fined, would be a backdoor tax. You choose to break a prohibited rule and as such you may get fined for it.

but it's almost impossible to make them oversteer unless you provoke it by puling on the handbrake
understeer city is what they are all about, even more so in the wet, and don't even talk to me about double deckers, they just keep on going

there used to be a button on the drivers foot they could press to get the pcitures, but nowadays the cctv is all digital and they record 247

as for the original question, yes, some bus lanes do have cameras, but yes some bus lanes are also covered by cctv

 

Well bus lanes aren't there for you to use because your running late to see a match are they? Why should you be any sort of exception to the rules?

 

Councils can't win mate. They get flak for not helping the bus companies provide a service that runs by providing such lanes if the buses are late all the time.

Bus lanes piss me off but people who either can't drive or can't afford to drive have as much right to get where they are going on time as we do.

 

Mate I totally agree with you. Bus lanes do make it worse for traffic but it's a nessacary evil, and it's impossible to get around it when planning within a historical town. Well unless you use subways which we wont pay for.

I think its one of the worst and most dangerous things that you can do on a road, using the Bus Lane's to jump queue's etc.

It defies all of what we were taught in our driving lesson's. Never over-take on the left etc. Imagine being a pedestrian and crossing a road where you can see the traffic is queued and then some tosser comes flying down the bus lane at 60mph?

For some reason, people think that not only is it OK to use them, but that they also adopt some kind of right to WAY exceed the speed limit whilst in there too. They are obviously aware that they shouldn't be there, so want to get it over with as soon as possible. That's a hell of a risk to take for the sake of a lousy game of football.

I wish the Police were more swtiched on with this kind of stuff, rather than worrying about trying to catch people doing 85mph on Dual Carriageways at 11.00 at night.

 

bus lanes have operational hours when you CAN use them

as for overtiaking on the left, what do buses do in the bus lane
you can pass vehciles in anotehr lane as long as the other lane is progressing at a slower rate than the lane you are in without breaking teh speed limit (or something) i think

 

If the surface of the bus lane is red then you can never use it in a car. If it's a black one then you can usually use it outside of peak times.

 

I think his point was the speed at which people usually do it - much more than a bus would.

Only some of them though, and again, you'll be expected to be there then, and might not be driving so fast so as not to get caught.

 

We were talking about this the other day - do you have any actual proof of that? I couldn't find it on the highway code site.

 

but if you get hit by a car doing 30 mph you can possibly be ambulanced away from the scene
if you get hit by a bus doing 30 they'll be scraping you off the adjacent buildings

ex bus driver as i am, i always use them when i can, but i HAVE bumped someone who walked out without looking
