Default Help with bad running engine please

My sister has a P reg escort cab ghia 1.8. When it is being driven the revs stick at 2 thousand and start to hunt, but only when it is being driven not from standing when you rev it. Any ideas anyone please.

Sounds like the ISCV (Idle Speed Control Valve) apparently you can remove them and clean them. Never done it myself tho.

Squirt it with air intake cleaner/carb cleaner then a bit of wd40 and carefully move the plunger back and forth then disconnect the battery for 30 mins and put the idle control vavle back on then reconnect the battery, start the car and allow it to idle for a few minutes

If you tap the Idle control valve should the revs rise at all.
