Was thinking of an E46 M3, but the M5 just does it for me, so discreet, yet deadly.

Ummm...

Ummmmmmmmmmm....

The 540 would be 50 quid cheaper?

I can honestly say that you won't regret a thing, even the mpg isn't shocking if you don't tear-arse the fuck out if it everywhere (which is hard to resist )

Prefer the E46 but there really is no reason not to mate

Love to...if you can find one under £20k let me know.

Mr.Brannen, only getting 20-22mpg out of the FRS, so thats do-able. Potential problem costs are a worry though.

look out for excess oil consumption.permitted limit is 1 litre per 500 miles (which i think is bad enough) but much more than this and your in engine replacement territory which is serious money.the only real common problems i can think of is the rear antiroll bar clamps break (every 5 minutes!!) but they are cheap and a piece of piss to change.also check that it has had the modified vanos solenoids.iirc these stop the oil draining out of the vanos as much and reduce cold start rattling from the vanos.oh yeah and vanos replacement is vvv costly aswell!and make sure you check the clutch isnt slipping.i'll let you know if i think of anything else!
