Awesome cars!
A friend is selling a nice black v plate just now. Think it just had brakes all round. It has a stainless exhaust and sounds the bollocks. Its under 7k I think. 110k miles.
They handle AMAZINGLY for such big heavy cars. You can pull round 180 on the clock and it makes it feel easy!

just sold my wifes e39 m5 8 weeks ago 2002 52 plate face lift model it has more tuq then the old spec and no venos prob... awesome car mate, BUT give or take approx 11mpg...around town..depends on how you drive.. Ł80 petrol of v-power shell will get you approx 180-225 miles on a full tank depends how you drive it, on the motorway its very good sits on the road nice 120+ and you dont feel a thing, mph on the m,way 22-28ish mpg its a good time to buy a big car coming up to xmas and what you pay for petrol theys days... put the mpg to one side, go for it mate awesome car !!!! sorry can't say anything about problems as i didnt have any..a part form a set of pads in 3 years, she had the car and service bills..if you get one try to get 2002 above, if you get the older one and the venos goes it's approx Ł1500 to from bmw.. and also the new spec pulls right round to redline, the older one starts to flatten out after 5000rpm or so it love's rear tyres lol... not easy to get part warn ones 275-35-18 run flats front's 240/40/18 glwt m5

Be carefull buying a good one is an awsome car, most 7k cars need that much spent on them again, vanos rattle very common at tickover, big end shells on 100k+ cars, track control arm bushes, prop centre bearing, the list is endless, i bought one three years ago it was a good car when i bought it, now its phenominal problem is most are mechanically neglected because of money, if you really want one look on m5board.com always a few good ones for sale.
Best go for a facelift model, buying an m5 is just like buying a s/h cossie more rouges than good ones, one of the best sleepers ever imo.

i had one, lovely cars, buy the best spec you can as they hold money a bit more and try and buy a facelift as the early ones have different piston ring if i remember and can burn a good bit of oil, also pixels on dash fade, heritage leather is lovely and was a 4k option from new, may be best to look on the M5BOARD

Dad just bought one and I fitted a set of xyz coil overs, on track the other week and never ever had so much fun on track, its a absolute riot to drive, handle awesome for a fat car, predictable, let go and are so controllable, I was in fourth, jump on the throttle through a slight right left and it just let go and sat side ways down the track, properly awesome fun!!
