Default Ford capri's

Just test drove one and was dissapointed. I realise its a bottom spec (1.6 ) but I wasn't expecting it to feel so heavy and soft. Can they be made to feel a bit more nippy? Not too bothered about engines, as that'll get changed but suspension, power steering? I realise caprisport do big brake kits and axel location kits but are the 2.8i dampers any good, worth going for avo's?

Are the 2.8's still soggy and barge like, just with a big engine, or do they feel more nimble?

The 'newest' are now 20 years old and cars have come a long way since then!

A 2.8 special would be the most forgiving with a LSD fitted, a std 2.8 will bite you in the arse at the first roundabout.

With some minor mods they can be great - polys, and some decent tyres for a start.

Try one, I thimk you'll like it.

Had 6 now and loved every one.

1.6's are a waste of time

Mines a 2.8i And I love it.....

Attracks soo much attention, Sounds Great, And it is pretty fast...

Just put a 4speed box in mine and its pretty impressive left a R plate elise standing upto about 120.... and he was flat out.

There great for hanging the ass out, and thee pretty predictable once you learn how to drive it

and they just look sooo good!! heres mine-

I had capri when I was 17 while my mates had fwd crap. Don't know how I never cashed it, Was a 2ltr Laser on the wider 2.8i wheels, 2.8i recaro interior, twin carbs, full capri club exhaust system, dixi horns etc. Great car for a 17 year old teaches you to drive!

So what can't be retro fitted to a Mk3 1.6 base spec car cos I've found a rust free one (I think anyway) with a years mot.

The plan is to pick up a rustbucket 2.8 special, swop over the suspension, fit big brakes sort out the interior then drop a duratec v6 in. Then take it all apart and re-spray it (once I've got some cash)

Thats what you want to do! Everything can be swapped over, The only diffrence is... the v6's have extra plates on the inner winds/strut supports

Buy you can buy them and weld them on yourself!

Had about a dozen 3.0's in the eighties and nineties , great cars , had a couple of gp 1 x-pack racecars as well , they were great track cars but hard work for the road . Still race against 3 or 4 guys that have these , they put up quite a good show for themselves and win everything in the Classic Toring car races but dont compete with Sierra and Escorts in c/lub c/ships .
