I was just playing with my dog throwing a ball the mrs threw it at me and he bit my stomach by accident. Theres blood on the surface but none has come through. Ive just put a load of detol on it but the mrs is thinking I have to go get an injection down the walk in centre please tell me shes talking shit

I have received many accidental bites over the years from my dogs when playing. Never had a problem, just clean the wound, you will have built up a natural immunity to the bacteria from your own dogs. Providing you have had tetenus injections a some point in your life then your body will have immunity, there is no need to keep having top up injections, in fact some GPs think it is harmful to do so.

 

Definitely go mate, even if they say you don't need anything when you get there. If you saw the amount of crap that dogs pick up you wouldn't hesitate. My dog eats his own and other dogs sh!t, so what does that tell you.

 

Why is it when people have a cut and a dog licks it they say it has healing properties, yet when the fucker bites ya you need a jab..........

Tetanus immunisation
You should have had an initial course of three tetanus injections within a six month period and then a booster every 10 years until you have had a total of five injections. After that you will only need tetanus boosters if you receive a tetanus prone wound.

Anti-tetanus serum
If you haven't had these initial injections, or your last tetanus injection was more than 10 years ago, then as well as a tetanus injection you will need anti-tetanus serum if your wound is tetanus prone.
