If you HATE GENERAL DISCUSSION, why the fuck are you reading, and replying, to a topic in a forum entitled GENERAL DISCUSSION!! ?? !!

Because he wants to change it for the better Stu. We pay our money but it appears if we have a view different to yours we get a tongue lashing .
Im sure you dont care as long as the numbers keep going up.
He wants to change General Discussion so that it no longer contains any General Discussion?

As for me not caring and just hoping the numbers go up; (Why do you think i would care about the numbers?) do you care to give me some evidence of that hurtfull accusation or are you just spouting off?
What we have here is a real problem with people swaning into the General Discussion and expecting the discussion to be suited to them.

I'm afraid it can't happen. We've got a wide range of ages, interests and more importantly a massive range in net experience.

Some of us have gone through the typical 'What do you do for a job' 'What car would you buy if you wont the lottery' 'Pics of your other half' threads countless times now. We've also seen references to the same old funny links over and over again.

But - this is new to a lot of people and it's unfair of us to complain. We all went through the motions once.

An important point I want to make is that forums aren't some sort of broadcasting service operated by those who run it. It's a community and everyone is entitled to contribute. If you don't like the current topics there's really nothing stopping you creating a new one on something you do want to talk about.

Its not just this forum, its the Ford scene in general.

Take the Old Skool Night at Ace Cafe last week, even though its plainly Old Skool

Some little twat in a Grey RS Turbo still turns up, cant get in the car park so parks in the bus stop across the way and proceeds to rev the cackers out of his car to make it flame.....

NO ONE was interested and the only comments that were made were 'Will that kid just fook off'

Even the original Ford night has been ruined by idiots and everyone trys to blame the Saxo owners etc but its not them thats spoiling it.

Its brainless morons sitting in the car park with their huge stereos boomin away... and wanna be drivers.....

We've ALL seen a flamer kit, and they were a grin 4 years ago... we've ALL heard the shhhhhhhhhh of your cheap dump valve......

We aint interested !!!

If you want to show off your boomin systems go to cruises, go to the Max Power night......

And this is just a sad reflection of whats going on out there...... and whats happening on the street gets reflected in whats happening on here.

I don't think that's the point is it. I thought Neil was complaining about what the driver was doing more than anything. The car he was in being circumstantial but in all fairness unfortunately quite typical.

It's not the car, it's the driver.

This type of Forum is OK, but it’s a pity they took over this one.
I agree with you Rod.

I also think, if it had been allowed to stay, that the short-lived split of General Discussion into cars and non-cars IMO would have helped stop this current decline.

Would be interesting to see what a poll would say now......
Agree with you there Lynne, I thought the split was a good decision.

Hardly !!

Pre 1982 seems to be the current definition of Old Skool set by the boys who run www.oldskoolford.co.uk

It was also the context in which it was being done...

There was a car park full of MkI & II Escorts, Capris, Cortinas, Anglias etc...

Why would any of those people be remotely interested in seeing 'Chimp Boys' flamer kit... ??

Now if one of the MkII's with a cossie motor, T4 and Anti Lag had decided to pop a few flames that would have been different matter

I also thought the split worked better, but that was a personal preference thing.

However, regarding the whole Chav thing, this site is what you (as posters) want it to be. I have no problem what-so-ever with the new people, as all I do is select topics to reply to / post on that interest me - it's not fucking rocket science . You're not compelled to post in any way, shape or form . I frequent the Escort Cosworth section and the General section regularly .

All this lead to was ten times as many complaints that people were having to actually navigate to more than one forum and couldn't sit there constantly hitting refresh so they could add either "LOL" "STFU" "" to every post they saw. This backlash to actually having to put any effort in saw Stu taking a poll and re-merging the rooms back into one.
