Chipped quite a few Nick,

Good for an extra 30BHP so a worthy mod,

If i was buying a Golf though def get the GT TDi 150 BHP std and an extra 30 is easily acheivable, and you still get awesome fuel economy

Absolute shat, very disappointed.

Raced a supposedly chipped to 200bhp (receipt to prove) car, and I pulled away comfortably in mine, which is standard at 174bhp. standing start, mid-range, top-end, had a fairly big edge all the way through the box.

Off topic abit but i've got a AMD'd Audi A31.8T which is the same engine as in the golf and the remap TOTALLY changed it, the BHP went up to 202 & torque was up to 224lbs

I've wasted loads of big BHP cars by the way, only thing that showed me up was a stage 3 saff (but i don't mind! ) I even wasted a Pug 205 cossie'd 4x4 which everyone was telling me was a rocket ship...............well he couldn't catch my Audi tugboat!!

I've said this before so i'll say it again, the VAG 1.8T engine is very very underrated. They handle 300bhp without any internal mods which saves you an absolute fortune.

The missus wants me to sell the fiesta so we can buy a S3, but i'm still gagging for a esc cossie!

Think its abit unfair really to compare a golf turbo to a stage 3 saff, now a chipped S3 might show you a good race, after an average remap they kick out just shy of 300bhp & well over 300lbs of torque.....and remember a chip is only 450+VAT!!!! so real good value for money!

Loads of tuners also......

Nick,

I drove a TDi after Rob had just chipped it - I was absolutely amazed at how well it went.

Get the TDi if it's the everyday car..........

woek for vw so been in a fair few modded IJ golfs

chipped tdi (jabbasport mapped) tdi 150 is IMO far better than the 1.8t version £ for £ on tuning

obviosly if you have a big budget, you can make the 1.8t a silly spec, but i would go for the tdi

also if you belive the rumours vw gonna bring out a 180bhp tdi 1K golf
