won a phone on ebay
chap dont accept pay pal so sent a cheque as requested
got 25 feed back all positive
emailed him says he aint seen cheque
just checked my bank cheque been cashed
i know the obvious go and beat the shit out of him smash his windows and take his car
but is there anything else i can do than this as i am a reformed person
these days and dont want to go down that road again
Any help would be appreciated

ring your bank and tell them that the cheque has been stolen in the post, Or ask them who the account holder and the location of the deposit

Report the item to ebay as not received.... file a report square trade get involved and can give a strike against him or ban him from selling..... Also get all details of chq and say it was cashed on whatever date for whatever Ł's and was made payable to..... that should work!

Never buy a mobile off ebay is a good place to start As said above tell your bank the money has gone missing.

Thats a bit of a sweeping statement, I sold a mobile on Ebay and am totally legit as I'm sure are many other users

Been to the bank today and they confirmed the cheque was cashed on the 25th
They have requested said cheque back and then they want me to confirm if its ben defaced in anyway
they will also tell me what bank and place it was cashed when they get it back which could take 3 weeks
So what do i do now ?
This chap is adamant he hasnt cashed it

wait for the cheque to be returned first, then if it has been proven to be defaced, you will be entitled to your money back.

if it hasn't been defaced, and the bank provides you with his name on the cashing account, report him to ebay under the usual system, then if that comes up with no joy, report him to the police for obtaining monies by deception/fraud

well well well i sent him an email saying the police were going to get involved and this is what i received ....

i have made a terrible mistake i thought your name was karl martin who bought another mobile off me which i have not got the money for i have cashed your cheque and the mobile was sent off yesterday it should be with you today or tomorrow please please please note this was a genuine mistake and i swear on my families lives this was a genuine mistake i am very very sorry and i hop you can understand i aM NOT SOMEONE WHO CHEATS PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR MONEY SORRY FOR INCONVEINIANCE PLEASE EMAIL ME
