Any Advice Here Folks
Right , if anyone can give me any advice on this that would be great.
June last year i went to buy some clothes for a wedding and i got offerd a 10% discount for taking a store card, which i thought was ok, so i took it. A few weeks later , i went into the store and asked how much i owed on the card, they told me, so i paid the full amount in cash, and got a reciept. I then a few weeks later threw this receipt away as i didnt think id need it anymore. The company then started sending bills for the same amount to me, and i phoned and wrote to them on numerous ocassions telling them that i had paid it in store etc, they told me it would all be sorted out etc, to which i thought it was as i hadnt heard anything until now. I regulary check my credit file, so it was to my horror that i looked at my file yesterday and i had something on there from this company with 8 missed payments (in red, so not good !!). I called them up and explained the situation and the girl said there was something on the system but they still claim they havent recieved my payment (which has been paid). They told me there was nothing they could do the resolve this as its not showing on their records and i dont have any proof (threw away the receipt). She told me, she would do me a favour , so she said if i paid half of the amount she would get it down as satisfied on my credit file and that would be that. I dont want it on my credit file as satisfied , i want it cleared out it as it shouldnt be there in the first place.
Im stuck with what to do, anyone got any ideas as to how i can get this removed, i know it wont do much harm but i just dont want it there when it shouldnt be !!
Any help apprecaited

go back to the shop. If you can specify the date and ammount you paid, the shop can obtain that days transaction records.
This is what Tescos suggested to me when I lost a receipt for a printer, which was faulty.
tho, you may have left it a tad late to persue this.
unless you can prove the payment, you're fairly shafted

Write to the highest person in the company you can, personally. Mentioned how disgusted you are, and how this is theft. Mention Trading Standards, the Consumer Credit Authority (think that's the name), and whoever else you can think of.
Got to be worth a try.

Have you spoken to trading Standards mate?
And as someone else suggested go back to the store, if you have an invoice it will give you that date you made the purchase, so in theory you can pretty much work out when you went back and paid it off. They will have the till roll, which will show you having made a payment. i will be a complete pain in the Ass but do everything in your power to rectify the problem as the last thing you need is a bad credit lable round ya neck.

If the shop dont have a copy your liable. Also how come you havent received any letters in the post from them? If it is Burton, Top Shop or any arcadia group owned shop they will be able to trace it.

If you owed money on a store card I would have expected a monthly statement showing the balance, any new purchases or any payments.
Did you keep those? Never toss a receipt till you get a statement with the payment on it.
