Got a few questions...
Cant decide what spec I want to build a YB, Want it to be realible, Dont need masses of power as the car weigh's fuck all anyway
Looking for a strong 300 atw power for track use but would like to have 400 on tap for the odd drag strip etc etc
Would a T38 and grey's plus any head work that needs doing be suitable?
T34's are pushed at 400 arnt they?
And is a T38 laggy?
Any input please as I havent a clue!
Thankenyou

T34-63 will have a good punch at about 3500rpm runing about 33psi but will then slowly drop the power off as the rpm increases a T38 will come in about the same or a few 100 rpm latter but not with a hard punch, but it will pull harder and keep on pulling right up to the rev limit at this will be at 26 psi

stick with a T34
i have a .63 exhaust housing and it pulls like a bitch
will be on the rollers soon, and i reckon it won't be far off a genuine 400bhp

the two housings drive very differently IMO, the .48 starts to produce boost a lot earlier than the .63 but delivers a smooth but hard kick, the .63 takes a little while before she spins up but gives a good strong kick up the arse

I've got a .55 housing, starts coming on boost at around 3k rpm and pulls like a fooking train

t34 .63 housing is good for 420bhp on dyno iv done it a few times and is an awesome turbo for the road.if your bolting on a standard engine will be fine. if engine is running low comp it will be laggy untill mapped properly.t38s are good for 450ish but as mentioned earlier are smoother but give more at top.i prefer the bang from the 34 .63[/quote]

What do you people reccomend for around 350-360ish? i like the idea of the .48 as its nearly as nippy as a normal t3, but i dont want it to run out of puff at 340hp ish.
Cheers

Personally, bearing in mind what its going in, id run a .48 T34. With the right spec it still pulls strong to and beyond the redline, well, mine sure did.
And spend more money on getting the thing handling well, and less on chasing bhp as you wont be able to use it anyhow.
Seems madness doing what most do (inc me back in the day) and going for a big spec engine and just using standard crappy viscous diffs, shit geometry, and so on.

Go for a t34.55
Has the low down response of the .48 and can hold the boost almost as high up the revs as the .63. So less lag like a .48 and more top end pull like the .63.
Will let you know what mine goes like after Mark sets mine up on friday with a BD14 inlet, greys, t34.55 and a Stu chip. cant wait
