that all depends on how much boost you are asking it to produce and how you drive it?

Do you have an oil pressure gauge in your car? Althought this wont show if you have a good supply to the turbo it will show if you have good oil pressure throughout your engine.

Also are you using fully synthetic engine oil?

if your killing turbo's and now your bottom end is rattling like a good un then surely you must have an oil pressure issue.

another thing, how old is your oil feed pipe, if its been on your car from new then it could be heavily clogged with shitty burnt oil deposits.

obviously when you turn your engine off theres still a huge amount of heat sitting around the turbo area for quite some time, and the oil supply thats now sat stationary in the oil feed pipe is pretty much boiling up in the pipe, all that oil can get burnt and leave deposits within the feed pipe and slowly over time start to clog the pipe.

renewing that feed pipe is most definetly a worthwhile and cheap investment, and also is the pipe still in visual perfect condition... ie is it kinked slightly and restricting the oil path??

ive had a similar issue with mine, killed my T34 and then had the car setup on a T38 but within 200 miles id killed that aswell. the bearings where showing severe heat distortion signs, maybe not from complete oil starvation but the oil supply hadnt been at its optimum and it had cooked its internals.

im now running mine with a 2wd style setup with the oil feed coming pretty much direct from the oil pump with brand new pipes etc and the car/turbo has been perfect since.

But overal... get an oil pressure gauge plumbed in pretty quickish, no cossie should be without one.

Agree with Kelvin, esp. re: the turbo oil feed pipes. For what turbos cost thesedays, probably wise to change with a new turbo...

cossie350, i love the way my T38 behaves and the way it just pulls harder and harder as it progresses thru the rev range.

i was reluctant at first to go the T38 route but now ive got it, the grin just gets bigger and bigger on my face compared to how the car performed on the T34.63 i had before.

im certainly not knocking the T34 but i love the T38.

and although it has alot more strength thru the midrange and top end it still manages to hit its full boost around 3300 - 3400rpm

do you know what variant/make of the T38 you have?

Ah am i glad to hear that mate , not sure what it will be leaving it to Harvey Gibbs who has built the engine. Its got a ported head by the bloke Harvey uses in Spain forgot his name, BD16 inlet BD14 exhaust, greys ect if that gives you any idea.

cossie350 - cool cool. Richie russ was using one of Harveys T38's on a Harvey spec engine and he was pushing a healthy 440bhp.

And im led to believe his T38 supplier is the same guy i got mine from after speaking to him today, which if he is then im sure you will be happy with the outcome

I have a HG T38 conversion - VERY pleased with engine and turbo (I've had .48 & .63 'T34' in the past on 803 greens)

Nick Waples is the head guru

I use Silkolene Pro S oil, btw.
