My mate just swapped a supposed 300 bhp one for his 2wd saph.

I was impressed at how chuckable it was and it was quick off the line..
But that was it

Got a good wooping by one about 7 years ago!

If only my 1.3 rs turbo lookalike had a 5 speed!! Loved that car!

Watching them down the pod they are awesome, couple of years ago it was a damp shitty day and out of about 7 pulsars not one went above 13.5 second qtr's! Would like a drive in one

MarkTurbo what spec is your's? sounds quite tastey

my mates just bought a bog standard import from a lad in york, done about 50k miles, since then he's fitted 17" superleggera's, Blitz induction kit and stainless de-cat'd Scorpion stainless exhaust system. We're taking it to be chipped at a place in Scotland called Star Performance on Saturday, hoping to see around 280bhp @ 1bar.

My mates has a beautiful one, but he refuses to race me.

Probably cos when his brother tried in his courtney turbo'd astra, he blew his engine up.

If it wasn't for the cost to him, I would have been very proud (in fact I do stillr etain a bit of his engine shrapnel )

Seems i was v lucky with mine - ran mid 12s all day, never ate a box or engine - infact never ever cost a penny bar doing the clutch. Bleed valve was only mod lol

Do like i did - save your gearbox and tyre costs all in one by using darkhorses! lol

They are really good off the line but once rolling I don't rate them much. Had a play with a one that had a massive FMIC on the front of it. I killed it around twisty's which I was shocked about.

I've also noticed that they seem to be shite after about 100mph, but then again it is 4 wheel drive and looks like a brick so to be expected.

Alot of car for the money though.

When i did those times in my signature at Bruntingthorpe it just had a Blitz airfilter relocated behind headlight, full mongoose exhaust, Bosch motorsport fuel pump, Hks 1.2 mm headgasket, Ap racing clutch, and 1.2 bar boost

Since then i've fitted a front mount intercooler, tubular manifold, made up a split turbo elbow, and i'm running 1.4/1.5 bar boost I reckon now i could drop the 0-60 down nearer 3.5, probably get around 9 secs 0-100 and a very low 12 1/4 mile

Heres how it looks now:

am i right in what ive heard that the box struggles with anything around the 300bhp mark.

Remember racing one in my 205 which had 230bhp and hamering one which the owner reckoned had 300bhp. then something broke on it

I reckon its just luck with the gearboxes, i've broken 2 running standard boost but the one in there now has taken numerous 6000rpm launches and 1.5 bar and is still going strong

Gti-R's arent very quick with standard power, once rolling my Gte 16v used to keep up with mine when i first got it
