what size diameter would i be after for a 17" wheel with a 205/40
equivalent size please

you wont get one an exact equivilant, the best size you can get depends on the rim width as well pal

If you're after slicks like racing cars have Marco's your man
However have you considered these? Road legal, work FAR better than normal road tyres on track, work well in the dry or damp (but poo in the wet, but that's obvious!)
Your size are Ł100 a corner at

these are the 205-620 17 brand spankers
this is the 235 -610-17 on a 8x17" wheel the profile will allways stay the same no matter how wide the tyres are

it's very hard to give an exact measurement from a slick to a road tyre , one reason is because they are square shoulderd you would need to look at them
it's the profile you shoud be more botherd about not so much the widith
lest say theses are 5 mm wider than a 205 road tyre what real differance is that going to make being honest
