3.0 MV6
What do we think of these then?
I've always liked the look of the Omega and they're very comfy inside with all the usual toys and can sit at 120 whilst you are thinking your only doing 60 cos it's so quiet.
on paper then seem ok, just over 200bhp 0-60 of about 8 seconds with a top speed of 150. half decent ones seem to be plentiful for £2k or less on about 100k miles.
However they are a big car, the 2.5 Vectra goes very well for what it is but the 2.5 omegas i've driven just haven't had any kind of excitment about them, moderatly fast but very boring, and not the best accelerator thats for sure.
Is the 3.0 just something else and really is quite quick? or just the same boring car as the 2.5 omega just now with the extra ponies is about as fast as the lighter 2.5 vectra?!
Does the MV6 have a LSD?

Ive had a few of both, the 2.5 and the 3.0. The 3.0 is significatly quicker. Not really any noticable difference in accelleration, but once your rolling there totally different. The 3.0 pulls so much stronger past the 4k mark, as you'd expect really.
I actually prefer the auto omegas to the manuals as there so much smoother and the auto boxes are very strong and reliable. I wouldnt be put off by high milers either mate. I know from when I was looking, that the higher mileage, ex-company and fleet cars were the better cars mechanically in my opinion. Probably as there mainly used as motorway cars.
Id say that the 3.0 might just have the edge over the 2.5 vectra, once rolling. Although probably not much between the 2 at all. Ive had 2.5 vectras too, and the vectra might 'feel' quicker, although the omega probably 'is' in my opinion.
The pre-facelift 3.0 Elite is the one to get in my opinion. The revised model too, with the xenons, bose system, digi climate and irmscher bits.
