Absolute dogshit

Even worse is thats a 2litre single cam

The 2.5 twin cam non turbos, or even the 2litre twin cam non turbos, are still not performance cars, but are ok if you not into going quick, but 2litre single cam is bollocks.

Skyline is just a make of car like Sierra, and a RB20E one is a complete base model.

Non turbo shit engines were---
RB20E- 130bhp
RB20DE- 165bhp
RB25DE- 190bhp

Turbos were-
RB20DET- 210bhp
RB25DET- 250bhp
RB26DET- 280bhp (official, 300-330 reality)

130bhp seems absolutely ridiculous

My brother collects his on Wednesday, but I dont think he's too happy! But got it a bargain price so can't complain... Wierd that it shows as a 2.5 single turbo on insurance quotes, but a 2.0 non turbo on rac check.

It's got straight through exhaust, filters, the usual standard mods... What would the 0-60 be on a standard 2.0? Im trying to convince him to either ditch it for a turbo model or do some engine work, but he wants a manual / turbo so it's hard finding the right one.

0-60? About 3 weeks. Well, a good 15secs i bet.
Its NOT a performance car, it was a base model, and nothing you can do barring change the engine for a different one will help.

And then you still got poverty spec interior, suspension, brakes, wheels, etc etc.
I bet its 4stud too rather than 5stud, as its a wank shopping model.

Hard to find a manual? He on drugs?! 90% of turbo Skylines are manual!

Its the crap non turbos that are mainly auto as performance didnt matter, as they didnt have any!

Ignore what it says on the Insurance, on the reg document, etc, means fuck all, they soo often wrong (well TBH if insurance says wrong, fucking tell em! they insuring it as a GTST by sounds of), its whats under the bonnet that counts, and that things got fuck all.

its around that, we talking a 1400odd kg car with 130bhp, no torque, and not even revving high.

engine change? i dunno, a decent engine will be well over a grand, prob over 2/3 grand with bits like loom, ecu, turbo etc etc to make it work

and even then you stuck with shit base model brakes, susp, interior etc etc.

its like putting a cossie engine in a standard 1.6 sierra

Cheers for the help mate, i'll pass all this onto him

He's previously had a 2.0i prelude, and a 2.5 e36.. Think he's gonna be in shock when he drives the skyline

I myself was expecting at least something like 150bhp

Itsmeagain How bad is the interior etc on the base model skylines? All the turbo ones i've seen the interior has been pretty wank compared to what I expected, especially the seats so if the base ones are worse than that they must be fookin awful

Mo- 2litre 8valve non turbo engine in a 1400kg car? What did you expect!

To be honest 130bhp is good for an 8valve TBH.

Surely only a complete clown would buy a car without knowing anything to do with it and not driving it.

89XR2- Yes, exactly, they shite. Only one with a half decent interor is GTRs, and they not amazing, but pretty nice.

Yeah, but the problem being is that it showed up as a 2.5 single turbo on insurance quotes. It was off ebay, so he bidded last minute thinking it was the 2.5 turbo model! Oh well, not to worry should be an easy sale down here.

My mate has a GTS 33. It is a great car for a newish driver (perhaps not a first car). Things like XR3i's are only 115bhp. Doesnt have the punch and is far from a GTR but they look good and do the job.

I had and was using daily a 2.5 GTS R33 Autospa$tic not long ago and it wasn't too bad.

Some Skyline owners seem to have a bee in their bonnet about GTR's and GTS-t's being "proper" versions [like some RS owners and the shock horror reaction when a car ISN'T an RS on the log book ], at the end of the day it's just a more lowly version of a car that sold a lot in Japan. At least he's not bought a 4 door

Having said that, what a complete fucker to try and sell I ended up swapping it with a young lad for a GTS-t as he couldn't get re-insured after gaining a few points and still wanted a Skyline....

ooh they ARE cool.....

Still, I'm sure if the one he bought HAD been a 4 door, it would more likely have looked like any other unlicensed Cab in Wandsworth

Very true

The base models were just company/shopping cars, and yeah, 4door base models were likely to be taxis
