Default ICE question......

Had the alarm sorted on the cos at the weekend (another thing on the endless list fixed )...

just to say Edinburgh Car Audio, fuckin pair of diamonds work in there!! job well done!!

anyway back the question, i want a decent pair of speakers on the back shelf of the car (2wd saff cos) asked the guy at Edinburgh Car Audio and he hadnt done an install on a cos for 15 years!! but reckoned there was not a direct replacement for the shitty standard speakers on the back shelf and its gonna be a right pig of a job to get some decent one to fit???

im not convinced, as he aint worked on one for so long.

is there a direct replacement for the original speakers on the back shelf or a good way to make some fit??

cheers peeps.

hi mate, i wanted to keep my saff standard looking with speakers but sounding the bollocks,

i used vibe neodynium 6" drivers with seperate compression drivers,

they are quite expensive, i bought 4 of them for the saff and it cost Ł450 ish, but they are by far the best replacement drivers i have ever used!
and still looks standard in the car

they are 250w rms.....so you will need to use an amp to run them properly, my advice would be run them at a high pass x-over point 90hz, ish....they work well at this point...

just looking for a replacement set speakers at the mo that will work off the head unit alone, in the future will be looking for some top notch replacements.

anything a bit cheaper on the market i could use as a direct replacement for the standard items??????

6x9's won't go close to the back shelf without building a pod or cutting a lot of metalwork. the standard arrangement is quite restrictive to adapting other stuff to go in..

yeah no problem, back shelf is structural on a sapph, that's why it's hard work and not reccomended to cut it about
