i went there for Live 8 i was quite surprised. Cool little city i was in the opal lounge for most of the night with a few famous people which was a bit surreal 
Nice place but might be a bit poncy if your not used to it
went to a few other bars but cant remember them

theres hundreds of pubs and a good few clubs in edinburgh.wouldnt really want to recomend anywhere as there all that varied
id start of in rose street or george street if staring off in the day time and if the place is shit just have one drink and move on as theres lots of places to go.would take you a week to get round all the pubs at that rate lol.
but sure whereever you go will be cool

JUST BEEN ON A STAG DOO LAST SATURDAY,WE MUST HAVE BEEN IN THE WRONG END OF TOWN ALL DAY COS I MUST HAVE ONLY SEEN ABOUT 2 BIRDS
THE BEST PLACE TO GO WE FOUND WAS THE GRASS MARKET BUT ONLY WENT IN ONE PUB AS WE ENDED UP GOING TO THE PUBIC TRIANGLE

Mannn we went there for a dirty weekend away lol! Bloke said there were loads of places to go but must have ended in wrong end aswell! Went to some club that was underground (can't remember name) was ok music
Only thing is it shut at 3, so we left at 2.30 to get some chips and couldn't fackin find any!! We went to 2 pizza restaurants (which only do sit in) queued for an hour for food (with some drunk twat that I wanted to lump one at) then finally had a sit down pizza (which was mank) at 5am!!
We've now decided that the minute we can propose a business plan to the bank manager - we will be starting up a late night chip shop in city centre lol
