if you have to ask 'what' then maybe you dont actually need one !

its a fully alloy quickshift rosejointed top block !

as to how much - i dont know, all i know is there like rocking horse shit to get hold of, quaife do a similar item iirc but with a cast frame and iirc again that item is approx £700

if there is enough interest i may price up for manufacture of these items, but sadly there are not many people who will pay for decent quality items, at a rough guess i would say to re-make this item would be approx £300 ish

Hi Chip / Redkop etc,

My gear box has now survived 20000 miles of my use at 320bhp/310lb ft for 3 years and 370 bhp / 368lb ft in recent months.

It is not shot peened to my knowledge, and I believe it's actually the original gearbox as the previous owners have kept all receipts and there's nothing to mention about a gearbox change or rebuild. The car is now on 114k miles IIRC.

Ever since I've first had it the box has crunched if I change from 2nd to 3rd excessively quickly - never does it on the road, only on track under "Red mist" operating conditions!

Seeing as I live on track, have done 8 full bore launches at the Pod, and drive with a lead foot on the road I'd say I've been very lucky.

As the power goes up (should be 440bhp in a few weeks time, then 540bhp within a few months) I'm expecting multiple breakages and head aches.

Hence my next crazy plan of going down the RWD route! I'll let you all know at what power level my MT75 fails!

Cheers
Simon

Hi Si... 320bhp is acceptable within the limits..... I had the box on mine rebuilt when I had the big turbo conversion done, it lasted 6 months, but I had probably done about 15 trackdays in that period. It let go bigstyle after coming through the Esses at Dono then came the saga of trying to source a new 3rd gear, finding the 2nd gear [might have been 4th] and layshaft was easy.

Best of luck with yours holding out......
