Update- I have the engine number on a receipt I found so may be able to prevent someone buying a stolen engine, pm me if your offered one by anyone other than a reputable dealer or someone you know well.




I am offering £500 reward for information leading to the arrest of thieves involved in stealing approx £5000 worth of cossie spares I had in a lock up garage. I have been a cosworth owner for 10 years, currently have 2x 3 doors and a sapphire, parts I had accumulated over the 10 years were stored in a lock up garage in North London near my home, at some point last week, not sure exactly when as I don't check it every day, my lock up was broken into and completely cleaned out and I mean every last nut and bolt. They must have loaded the lot into at least the size of a Transit van.

Parts taken include virtually everything needed to convert a standard 3 door shell into a cosworth replica, two mint doors in moonstone, moonstone whale tail and boot, bodykit also moonstone, bonnet in moonstone with a couple of chips, complete engine needing a new head gasket (sadly didn't record the engine number), T5 gearbox apparently with worn syncro on 3rd, complete interior, dash with 3 quite large cracks, Garrett T3 with slight play in shaft, virtually mint 3 door wheels with good tyres, can't remember make of tyres.

Sapphire bits, propshaft, differential, bootlid in mercury grey and rear spoiler plus various other engine parts.

I know it is a long shot but if anyone is offered a job lot or even individual parts from someone they dont know to be a regular on the Cosworth scene or they have reason to be suspicious of please pm me and I will look into. If the lead is positive I guarantee to honour the reward.

The police can do nothing, no evidence left at the scene and no witnesses, the garages aren't overlooked. As the garage was not attached to my house my insurance does not cover it so I have effectively lost the lot, I know shit happens but I live in the hope that the thieves will not realise how close a community the Cossie club is.

Yup,North London, I suspect they are local and the same people that almost stole my Sapphire last year, even so the parts could arise anywhere throughout the country.

Be on the lookout for a 3 door replica or even a 3 door that purports to be genuine, would undoubtedly be in Moonstone, suspect anything that doesn't check out 100%. Sadly a non enthusiast is not likely to know what to look for, most people on here and RS Mania should be clued up.

Checking Ebay every couple of hours!!!!!, if they make a slip up I'm on to them, they better hope the Police get to them first!!!!!!!!

Not too good as I was telling your dad, misfiring badly at the moment, cured with new plugs then returned with a vengeance a week later, possibly leads, was going to fit brand new motorsport leads until they were nicked along with everything else I've accumulated over 10 years!!!

When I've got time I'll do a proper diagnosis, haven't driven her properly for two months, may decide to fit the monster engine from my Sapphire (450bhp), will decide soon.

Hi mate, yes I remember you told me last year when you called at my house, still got the Escos?

Unfortunately owning a Cossie means your fair game for the thieving scumbags, I told you about how they almost got away with my Sapphire last year which was parked outside the garage that was done over, fitting CCTV with 24 hr recording, if I cant prevent them from taking what they want then at least I will know what they look like. I've fitted a tracker to a Escos replica and parked it outside the garage, hope they take the bait and I'll have them.
