If you delete something from your outbox before it's read, does that mean it never gets sent?

 

i've always wondered that, i bet it does get sent though

 

Correct Jim, but an email notification saying someone's got a PM will get sent, if set to do so in their profile.

 

so it doesn't get sent????

 

sod the email notification, i just need to make sure my drunken dribble doesnt get read

It doesn't, hence all the posts that used to pop up like: "I've had an email notification of PM, but when I look there isn't one."

But Jim, are you sure you deleted from your outbox, not your sent box.....

 

That will be why I got an e-mail saying I had a PM the other day, signed in and there was nothing there. Thought I was going mad

I have had this a few times recently email saying i have a PM go in and its gone.....

 

As above if its still in your outbox it doesnt get sent if you delete it.

Every pm i send is going to outbox and none or sending

 

That's because the person who you have PM'd has either not logged in to see them yet or ignoring you

 

are well someones going to get about 5 of the same pm's then

b4 the upgrade was done by admin the email that got sent used the tell you who it was from!

 

just done a test on my board jim and it definatly gets deleted.

 

and now it doesnt even say who it was from?

 

Someone sent me a PM at 6.02 last night (to be precise! lol) and i recieved the email saying you got a pm etc etc. So when i went to read it at 7pm it was gone?! The last PM i had was 1 o'clock??? But when i asked the person who'd PM'd me she said it's gone from her sent box and outbox too??? So i've changed my password LOL

How can this happen?? Can you mods see our PM'S or even our passwords??

 

How do you delete one if you don't have an outbox ? (i've been searching for like.. an hour and i can't find it )

 

This thread was about phpBB, we are now on Vbulletin, its totally different software.

You now cant stop a message being sent by deleting it from your outbox anymore.

Its no longer two seperate boxes for before and after messages have been read.

Some forum software will send the full text of the PM to e-mail.

 

The old software that we had 3 years ago which this thread is about didnt.
