Default Do you HAVE to have a front bumper on car by law?

As per title really.

Ive seen old skool cars without bumpers etc, but when they nt got em on it doesnt leave a hole in the front of the car.

Can you legally run a newer car without a bumper?

Honestly prefer mine without it TBH

Im sure id get fed up with it like that, but it suits the style of the car, mean, and a shed So id at least like to use it like that for a bit, if its legal, ish...

No law saying you cant run it without a bumper, just as long as there are no sharp bits sticking out anywhere

As Tiff said as long as no sharp bits. But of a grey area really! As looking at the front wings there imo i would say that would be illegal Put it this way i wouldnt like to step out in front of you in that

Wrong! AS they woudl be covered up by the bumper How many cars do you see with sharp bit from the manufacturer?

just keep a bumper in the boot and say its fell off
i think the police would probably give to a 21day ticket to have it repaired but also the vosa could put the car of the road as its a danger to pedestrains and other road users

say the police pulled you over although the vehicle past its mot in that state....do they have the power to force you to put it on?if it was a danger it would be pass and advise as far as the mot test is concerned

You can be done under Construction and User regs, same as used for SVA testing and the one new cars have to comply with.

Just because it has an MOT it doesn't mean it will be O.K. under C&U.

makes me laugh how a vehicle can be tested in that state to begin with....but then there's a few things i think should be tested like reverse lights

Surely you dont want to drive that car on the road as it sits in the picture? I could possibly see the point of it on a trackday or something. Apart from being dangerous it looks terrible.

Car can only fail and MOT due to corrosion.. so can be ran without a bumper without one.

Thats from an MOT tester

Steve, if you run the car without a bumper, where are you going to place the front number plate?

Also, the car wont be very aerodynamic as it is in the pic....also:

If you park ia anywhere unatended for more than 10 mins the inter-cooler might get stoten.................prob end up on someones Glanza
