Default Home and Getting Better.....Long Story so I'll cut it short.

Well, no one probably noticed (And I didn't expect anyone too) but I've been absent for the past week after been in Hospital at Southampon. Just got home again day before yesterday.

Basically Last Tuesday I drove the Cossie to Southampton (From Portsmouth) and dropped it off at Tremona Garage to have the handling sorted out, which turned out to be a couple of knackered suspension joints/bushes on the rear end.

An hour after dropping my car off I collapsed just outside my works office in Southampton and was rushed into Accident and Emergency, where I remained for four days in intensive care. Just got home yesterday and now having a weeks recovery. Long Story but I'm ok now (Hopefully) and it's unlikely to happen again.

Can't really remember much, except that I suddenly started sweating profusely and suddenly realized I was loosing conciousness. Don't remember much after that for the next few days, but apparently I had internal bleeding from an ulcer (which I was totally unaware of), and as a result of this I collapsed.

Ended up having a couple of operations all done through my mouth using some form of micro surgery (Put a camera through your mouth and intestines with some other tools on the end of it) and needed five units of blood to replace what I'd lost. Was told I was very lucky I was taken straight to the Hospital by a cab driver !!!!!! as much longer with low blood levels would have resulted in a heart attack.

All diagnosed as a result of taking Asprin over a longer than prescribed period. Basically had a really bad tooth ache, which started about two weeks ago, and couldn't get an appointment for ten days.... so kept taking asprin to calm the pain until my appointment, had the tooth extracted (Rear Molar) and continued taking the asprin for another two days due to the pain I was still in from the extraction, and I hadn't been taking the Asprin exactly as prescribed..... Took them without eating at the same time.... which resulted in the advanced acceleration of a stomach ulcer, leading to internal bleeding. So basically my own fault, but all as a result of not being able to get an appointment with a dentist for tooth ache, and that was going private........Imagine if i'd been trying to get an appointment on the NHS.....

Now I've been told I'm alergic to Asprin..... which I didn't know..... and I have to take pills for the near future to limit the acid content of my stomach.

One good thing came out of this though..... I've given up smoking.....I was in a ward full of people with emphasemia and lung related diseases....... Don't want to end up like them, so haven't had a ciggie since I went in the hospital, and never will again.

If you want to give up smoking but just can't do it (like I was) .....go for a wander around one of the intensive care wards....you'll soon stop.

Thanks to the guys at Tremona for helping out and sorting things out with my car while I was in Hospital.

Just glad it didn't happen an hour earlier driving down the M27 at rush hour in the Cossy...... All happened so quickly I doubt I'd have had time to realize what was happening before I lost conciousness. And the same thing could happen to anyone at anytime......

Jeeez Jim - Bit shitty m8 - but how lucky that you'd just finished driving there.

Had an ulcer before, so can't take aspirin or Ibruprofen type of painkillers.

Glad they've sorted it and you're on the mend.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the kind comments, really appreciated.

Ima... Wish I knew who he was, but I have no idea and the hospital didn't have any info... Just have to be kinder to all taxi drivers in the future... as he probably did.
