Default Insurance for stored cars?

I have put the XR2 away in the garage for the next year and was wondering can I insure the car incase of fire or theft?

Speak to your ins. co but I suspect they'll say leave the normal insurance running. It won't be covered under household either if that's what you were thinking.

they will say insurance it 3rd party, but this is no use if it goes up in smoke. You cant put it on your household policy as a specified item either.

Neil and I have had to take out 3rd party F & T on his cossie even though his is just sitting in the garage for the next few years being re-built!!!

Any specialists that deal with classics etc will give you layed up insurance, which is for stored cars.

give your insurance company a bell and ask about "theft only" cover. i think thats what its called

well my normal third fire & theft runs out monday, and i spoke to them and said they don't offer a reduced policy for stored cars. They still want me to insure it full whack.

Fraz what companies are best for classics then?

AON - 08705 708090
Footman James - http://www.footmanjames.co.uk/site/default.asp
Heritage - http://www.heritage-quote.co.uk/

I think Adrian Flux also offer a layed up / stored policy but not sure

Im with Boncaster (RSOC) but they wont insure an XR

Try AON they are shockingly cheap on classics.

Greenlight may offer a policy like this also as they do specialist things, just ask around

adrian flux definately do a layed up policy, and it was only going to be £150 for a year for my S2 rst when i had it. You take it out your garage and its not covered though!
