Default M3 CSL..??

Is there a hell of alot of difference between this and the standard M3 coupe.? i know the carbon fibre roof and paddle shift are different. but do they drive more like a track car than a fast road car..??

M3 vs CSL = totally different driving experience, they're not even close. I've had both (well still have the CSL) and have used both extensively on road and track.

Differences at a glance

CSL is around 150kg lighter*, including much lower CoG (CF roof helps a lot)
CSL has around 17bhp more (thanks to huge induction kit, cams, ports, engine management)
CSL has totally different suspension
CSL has quicker steering rack
CSL has bigger front discs (most people fit AP 356mm + 6 pots though)
CSL has reprogrammed (more aggressive) software for the sequential shifter.
CSL has much better seats

* weight loss from stripped interior, extensive CF bodywork, SMC bodywork, thinner glass etc..etc (they could have gone much further though!)

Then there's the cosmetics.

Lovely jubbly.

My boss drives one of these. He has said there is also a reported problem with the clutches on the csl's, his car is in for the second time to get another clutch, it will be his third within 20000 miles. This is apparently a known fault on the car, it has been reported to BMW who have said they are going to stop changeing clutches under warranty soon untill they have found a fix to why the clutch keeps giving out. Boss has said he thinks it may be a software related issue on the gearbox, with the clutch not adjusting itself as it wears. CSL Man have you had any problems with yours yet?

I attach domes to the top of the old discs, then throw them into the sky and photograph them
