Default Bloody young drivers

Had a call yesterday from my brother. Somebody ran into his girlfriends Escort GTi on Saturday evening. Lad took a roundabout too quickly trying to race another car and came out of his lane on the roundabout and into the side of her car. Upon stopping to exchange details (after he tried to flee and then realising he had no chance of outrunning her stopping ) the lad turned out to be just 17 years old and had been driving for 14 days. Transpires he had allready had another accident in that time as well.

Another 17 year old Damon Hill wanna-be with all the balls but none of the talent Then the kiddies bleat about how much their insurance is

Waiting on insurance now for a new mirror side strip and paint on the wing and door and having the alloy refurbed

hey i'm only young not quite 17 yet but i checked insurance for an insurance group 2 car and it was over 2 and a half grand because of stupid boy racers like him!!!!

i'm not trying to be sexist but its true, so many lads who think they know everything about driving, but they don't!!!

i know i won't be doing stupid things like that once i've passed my test, my car is to get me from a to b and to look pretty not for racing and putting others in danger as well as increasing everyones car insurance!!!

All the more reason as was raised a few weeks ago to limit these idiots to the smallest and least powerful cars.............bellend. Learn to drive first..........

but the insurance costs DO limit what they drive,im pretty sure theyll race whatever they have, you can still thrash a cinquecento about! and theyre not as safe at these high speeds. and tbh at least one person on this topic posts about previous road races, therefore is being a bit hypocritical i think,we all mess about, occasionally it ends in tears, its the way of life.tryin to run away is a bit silly, but the racing it,im pretty sure most people on this board have done it and will do again, regardless of age

Think it was me that raised the issue about limiting young drivers. How ironic

i can see both sides its hard when ur car is damged sorry to hear that oranoco

but on the flipside i have a 17 yr old brother who is 6ft 3 now i had to get him a fiesta he can barely fit in it but insurance wise he is still looking at 2k for a 13 fiesta, but he is reasonablt y sensible works hard at college etc but he will really struggle to find that sort of money as a student and all he wants is his independance and his freedom and im sure the majority of the time he will be a sensible driver but regardless of expierance we all can have a accident

yes i'm sure many people on here have raced and even though to be honest i don't agree with it on public roads, i'm sure they did it in much safer environments and were much more experienced.

if they didn't then shame on them, because its putting other innocent people in danger of losing their lives.

There are daft girl drivers out there too Danielle. Granted there will be more lads, but it doesn't alter the fact!

Absolutely Grant - but your brother is also being penalised because of wankers like this idiot. If this prick (and loads like him) were sensible we'd ALL be better off.

I think all insurance companys should give a big discount to ford owners...... As they spend most of the time on the back of a tow truck

I Agree with the limiting factor.....

I passed my test 3 years ago, and my first car was an xr3i Cab, insured under mums name! Insurance was only about 800 quid....

Ill be one of the few and admit.... It was miles to fast for me to jump in 30mins after passing my test.... And yes I did think I was D hill... like most people once they pass there driving test! But im glad i leant from my mistakes before I made a big one!

and yes theres always a chance of an accident, even if your going 30mph, but that chance can be decreased by driving sensibly at sensible speeds!!!

Agree 100% - but the idiot element can't seem to understand that, and it's unfortunately a fact that males under 25 are the predominant cause. Saying that, I know a few women who are as bad so the blame can be apportioned to all segments of the driving public.

I think it's bloody ridiculous. I know a few boys that brag about how they almost crash and pull out onto main roads without looking

i will not deny that there are some crazy women drivers out there who think that straigh after passong their test they will get a fast car etc..

but it is a fact that there are more lads out there doing it, thats why things like diamond and sheilas wheels were set up!!! lol

but the fact of the matter is that if the person has their head screwed on right then they won't do anything that could increase chances of danger, i tell you that its the last thing i would want to do, especially since too people i know died in a car crash a year ago after racing on a public road, it was a clear road but the car still ended up wrapped round a lampost!!!

one of the guys who was in the car was only getting a lift home (he had a baby too at home) and cos of his mate (who had only passed his test a few days before) acting like a twat, they both ended up dead!!!

Fingers crossed one day soon it'll be each other and they can put everyone out of their misery. If they want to kill themselves be my guest, I'll even hold their coats but don't jeopardise anyone else.

Danielle hun Diamond and Sheila's wheels were not set up becuase of the men pranging stuff it is just a marketing pitch and nothing else Diamond are a subsiduary company of Admiral (who also do Elephant), Sheila's is a sub of another company also but can't remember which.

Young girls however certainly seem less intrested in hammering the living daylights out of their cars. Lads just seem to want to compete all the time.

I know I was as bad, I put my first car through ahedge and destroyed a post box. The 1600 Mk3 Escort I had at the time was in hindsight far too much for my inexperience. Fortunately the only real damage was to my ego
